CB Richard Ellis and Pitney Bowes MapInfo host exclusive seminar on latest National Survey of Local Shopping Patterns for out-of-town shopping

Dedicated executive retail seminar in London, 4th April, pinpoints locational opportunities of latest NSLSP findings for out-of-town shopping

London, 5 March 2008 - Pitney Bowes MapInfo, the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, is co-hosting a half-day seminar with retail estate services leaders CB Richard Ellis, on Friday 4th April at St Martin's Court, 10 Paternoster Row, London, EC4M to provide detailed insight on the opportunities of the new National Survey of Local Shopping Patterns for out-of-town shopping retailers.

The National Survey of Local Shopping Patterns (NSLSP) is the largest household survey of shopping preferences in Great Britain: over 9.5 million households have provided details of their shopping destination preferences to the programme.  The NSLSP provides a potent platform for analysing non-food, grocery or retail park catchment areas and for measuring the competition for trade in any given catchment.

This exclusive seminar presents a unique opportunity for decision makers in the out-of-town shopping market to learn about the unparalleled range of catchment analysis tools and applications the NSLSP programme supports.  The session will also demonstrate how the results can be combined with other data, such as demographic, income, lifestyle and expenditure to provide catchment and shopping population profiles for any individual location or group of locations.

“NSLSP results derive exclusively from household surveys, quite different from modelled catchment analysis solutions,” says CB Richard Ellis Head of Retail Research Mark Teale.

“No modelling of any kind whatsoever is used in creating NSLSP catchment data-sets.  Unlike models, which provide a representation of what catchments might be, NSLSP results identify what they are. As the NSLSP is measuring real markets, it is an unprecedented intelligence tool whilst providing the most accurate information available on local retail economies.”

“This location intelligence is critical to retail decision makers,” comments Jonathan Clark, Strategic Industry Manager, Retail, EMEA, Pitney Bowes MapInfo.

“For example, the NSLSP time-series results reveal huge market share shifts between grocery retailers and between convenience goods and comparison goods markets; the trading impact of the market share shifts that are occurring at shopping location level continue to dwarf the impact of internet sales growth.

“Contrary to popular industry perception, internet penetration of comparison goods markets varies significantly by scale and quality of local shopping offer, with penetration rates falling markedly in areas well provided with shopping. NSLSP results also reveal that there is a strong inverse correlation between propensity to shop on the internet and household income.”

The half-day agenda includes results from the NSLSP on consumer shopping destination preferences out-of-town, the measuring of out-of-town market potential, leveraging local press advertising expenditure via SCMP and using NSLSP with AnySite for screening and network-planning purposes.

The seminar runs from 08.45 (registration) to 12.40 (lunch) on Friday 4th April 2008 at: CB Richard Ellis, St Martin's Court, 10 Paternoster Row, London, EC4M 7HP.

•   Industry leader has completed over 300 million interviews in six years
•   99.94% uptime achieved alongside 32% growth in activity level on On-Demand platform
•   Third-party testing confirms secure environment

February 5, 2008 New York, NY and Oslo, Norway: Confirmit (OSE: CONF), the world’s leading provider of software for Market Research (MR) and Enterprise Feedback Management (EFM), announced today that it delivered respondent uptime of 99.94% during 2007, outperforming its own guaranteed Service Level Agreement (SLA) for availability. It also reported a 32% growth in activity on the Confirmit On-Demand platform for 2007. Confirmit’s On-Demand and On-Premise platforms led to the completion of  97 million interviews in 2007.

Over the last six years, over 308 million surveys have been completed on the platform, with the company passing the 300 million milestone in Q4, 2007.  Confirmit’s uptime level on its US and European Confirmit On-Demand or Software as a Service (SaaS) environments is a key benefit for clients, demonstrating a premier level of availability and reliability for their market research and feedback activities.

“These numbers affirm Confirmit’s place as the leading player for MR and EFM technology, not only for 2007 but also since the initial product launch,” said Henning Hansen, President and CEO of Confirmit. “This performance reflects our customers’ confidence that the platform can drive their businesses and rewards our investment in robust software and a stable and secure On-Demand environment.”

Foundstone, a McAfee division, performed Penetration Testing on both the US and European On-Demand environments in Q4 2007, and rated security to a straight A, the highest grade. Similarly, Foundstone performed an Application Testing (ethical hacking) on Confirmit 12, which similarly returned a straight A..

“As a leading vendor in the SaaS industry, as well as one of the only on-demand providers in the EFM and MR markets to provide a guaranteed SLA availability, this level of performance reinforces our commitment to drive innovation and exceed expectations for our clients and for the industry as a whole,” said Arnt Feruglio, Chief Operating Officer at Confirmit.

“Confirmit’s ability to support a 32% growth in activity on its environments, while delivering respondent uptime of 99.94% translates to a direct benefit for customers and important stakeholders,” explained Henning Hansen. “In particular, our Market Research clients can take advantage of market-leading technology, scalability, reliability and security for maximized respondent engagement and utilization, increasing their response rates and return on investment. These benefits are realized by our customers and their clients.”

Confirmit’s existing SLA guarantees its customers a 99.7% uptime for survey respondents. The company’s On-Demand environments are Safe Harbor compliant, which is of great significance for global companies who survey European residents, where the EU Data Protection Act is otherwise a critical factor.

In 1999, Confirmit launched its first On-Demand environment, and since that time, there have been significant and ongoing investments and improvements in the hosted service. Confirmit partners with Rackspace for a highly sophisticated Managed Hosting solution, which provides substantial benefits with regards to security, stability, scalability and reliability.

Confirmit’s hosted On-Demand environments are located in Dallas, Texas in the US and in London, UK. The world-class EFM and MR platform can be licensed as Confirmit On-Demand or Confirmit On-Premise and can be implemented in both online or offline locations bringing critical live insight into the world’s board rooms.
18489  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / UK Call Centres Carry On Calling on: January 29, 2008, 10:47:31 PM
Birmingham 29 January 2008 – “The UK Contact Centre Operational Review (5th edition)”, a recent major study of over 200 contact centres, carried out by ContactBabel, has found that legislation curtailing outbound telemarketing has as yet made little impression on the overall volume of outbound calls being made.

Findings within the ‘Outbound and Call Blending’ chapter of the report, sponsored by Infinity CCS, show that proactive customer service - such as informing of delays and arranging deliveries - accounts for one-third of all outbound activity. Sales calls to existing customers make up 20% of outbound calls, with cold calling still accounting for 14% of activity.

“Legislation against outbound calling is cutting more deeply in the US, probably because the UK has a stronger service ethic. Only 4% of survey respondents said that they had reduced their outbound activity a great deal, with a further 17% saying that it had reduced slightly since legislation. These figures are less than half of their US counterparts,” said Carl Adkins, CEO, Infinity CCS.

The report’s author, respected call centre analyst Steve Morrell, said:  “The relatively low impact of legislation on outbound activity can be attributed in large part to the considerable amount of service and sales related calls made to the existing customer base, which generally do not fall under legislation against outbound calling.“

Proactive outbound calling, especially for reasons of customer service, is a powerful and effective branding technique, as well as having the added benefit of avoiding unnecessary calls. For example, a business that calls its customers to let them know the time of a delivery is providing a useful service to its customers, reducing inbound calls on the same subject, and saving the wasted cost of making deliveries to addresses when no-one is in.”

As a result of the recent expansion Flash Networks is now able to provide local sales and support services throughout Asia Pacific for mobile Internet solutions that enable fast, smooth, and easy navigation while browsing the Internet using laptops and handheld mobile devices.  Flash Networks’ customers in Asia include Huawei in China (TBC),  Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, Optus (TBC) and Telering in Australia and Telkomsel in Indonesia.

According to Frost & Sullivan, data revenues for mobile operators in Asia Pacific between 2003 and 2006 have increased by 219% percent and are estimated to reach US$22.45 billion at the end of 2007. This has been primarily driven by greater 3G coverage and deployment, a focus on the expanding regional subscriber base, the declining cost of advanced multimedia handsets, and the competition to secure a continuous stream of content through partnerships.

In October, Flash Networks received the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product of the Year in the European mobile Internet platform and services market. The Frost & Sullivan Product of the Year Award is presented each year to the company demonstrating excellence in new product and technologies within their industry.

"We are committed to the Asia Pacific market and we are proud to collaborate with such an impressive network of partners to respond to the growing demand for the mobile data in this region,” commented Liam Galin President and CEO of Flash Networks.  “We have succeeded in integrating our new selling channels quickly while enabling our customers to receive consistent standards of service and support wherever they are located."

As part of their expanded activities in Asia Pacific, Flash Networks is sponsoring the Mobility World Congress & Exhibition taking place from 4-6 December, 2007 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.  Flash Networks will be presenting on December 6th, their future vision for Mobile TV designed to suit the mobile lifestyle.  In its 12th year, The Mobility World Congress, previously 3G World Congress, is Asia's largest industry gathering of the world's leading telecom companies in the high growth and dynamic mobile communications market.
