Wireless 2.0 conference 8&9th July, 2010, Bristol, UK
« Posted: June 15, 2010, 05:16:11 PM »

June 15 2010 - The wireless industry will be gathering in Bristol, UK next month, for the Wireless2.0 conference at a time of unparalleled opportunity in the industry.

“The smart phone revolution has brought the dream of mobile multimedia home,’” said Simon Bond, organiser of this year’s Wireless 2.0 conference. “However, its extraordinary success has also placed unprecedented stresses on the networks that support them. There’s so much that needs to be fixed if the wireless industry is going to keep pace with consumer demand for its current and future product. I believe that this tension is driving us into a new, golden age of wireless innovation, and Wireless 2.0 is where it starts.”

Organised by the Silicon South West network, confirmed speakers for Wireless 2.0 on the 8th & 9th July 2010 include:
- Joakim Nelson, General Manager, Head of Industry Collaboration & Asset Management, CTO, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB
- Will Strauss, President, Forward Concepts
- Walter Tuttlebee, CEO, MobileVCE
- Tim Haysom, CMO, OMTP / Bondi
- Ray Williamson, Motorola
- Pete Keevil, CTO, Ubiquisys
- Dr. Tim Wilkinson, VP Technical Marketing, IPWireless
- Prof. David Bull, CTO, ProVision Communications
- Peter Claydon, VP Sales & Marketing, Deltenna
- Mark Barrett, CEO, Blu Wireless
- Gurpritpal Singh, CTO, Cingular Consulting Services
- Nick Flaherty, Editorial Director, Silicon South West

This year's conference theme is Mobile Multimedia Comes Home and sessions include:
Multimedia in the Hand - looking at the technology and strategy challenges of multimedia and HD video in the handset.

Multimedia in the Street - looking at the technology and strategy issues of providing ubiquitous multimedia, from increasing the bandwidth of wireless modems and the network challenges.

Multimedia in the Home - looking at the developing technologies for sending HD video around the home, from the femtocell through VD video to the latest 60GHz technologies.

Wireless 2.0 also honours the Rising Star Electronics & Electrical Engineering student of its local universities, awarding prizes to the most talented young engineers. This year the awards will be presented by Prof Joe McGeehan, Managing Director of Toshiba's Telecoms Research Laboratory at the Rising Stars Awards Dinner on the evening on 8th July.
