…A guide to increasing workforce motivation within the NHS and commercial environments…
Milton Keynes, UK. – Monday 21 October 2013 – The Voucher Shop, a specialist provider of staff rewards, benefits and promotions, has released two free whitepapers for the HR and talent management communities. The first whitepaper entitled, “Improving staff performance and retention in the NHS through reward and recognition”, examines a range of key elements such as the difference between rewards and recognition schemes, why staff motivation matters, changing workforce expectations, and how to tailor rewards schemes within the NHS. The second whitepaper entitled, ‘Improving staff retention through recognition and reward in a commercial environment' looks at the challenges within the sales environment, and how to motivate a range of staff which often includes a mix of seasonal and permanent individuals.
The NHS whitepaper comes shortly after the announcement of the 2013 NHS Employee Survey which looked at the level of staff motivation within the NHS. Findings showed that seven out of 10 staff feel undervalued in their current role and a further six out of ten staff are actively looking for a new job or considering another post. Respondents were based in over 250 NHS Trusts and included employees at all levels within the NHS – including cleaning and administrative staff to midwives, nurses and doctors.
Kuljit Kaur, Head of Business Development at The Voucher Shop comments, “It has well been documented that engaged employees are twenty times more likely to improve customer satisfaction[1] and managers are waking up to the need for continual motivation. With the right rewards and recognition systems in place, all organisations can benefit from enhanced service provision, exceed targets and retain high performance staff.”
Kaur adds, “It is easy to spend a lot of money motivating staff, with little tangible return. Before rushing headlong into introducing the latest employee benefit or an incentive scheme, it is essential to take a step back and understand what the organisation wants to achieve through better-motivated staff and how it will measure the success of any initiatives. Our whitepaper aims to explain the key points to consider before implementing a reward scheme.”
The Voucher Shop is already supporting schemes such as the PSCashback Black MasterCard® card, which has delivered over £500,000 in cash back savings to NHS staff across the country. For commercial enterprises The Voucher Shop delivers off the shelf solutions such as Voucher Cheques, gift cards and bulk vouchers, through to fully bespoke reward and recognition schemes tailored to meet individual client needs.
