txtNation have today been shortlisted for the prestigious 160 Characters Awards in the category, Best Mobile Financial Services Solution.
Major industry names and new up and coming companies rub shoulders in the prestigious Global Messaging Awards shortlist. Many of the shortlisted companies have been successfully developing, refining and most importantly selling messaging solutions for years.
The winners will be announced during the gala dinner at this year’s Global Messaging Congress, June 22-23 in London.
txtNation joins other mobile aggregators and SMS service providers in the list of award finalists and the company is understandably overjoyed to be shortlisted to the final.
The last several years have been very exciting for txtNation and the mobile messaging industry. The first ‘Merry Christmas’ message sent over the Vodafone network back in 1992 spawned a global phenomenon and by 2001 when Global Messaging launched, more than 16bn SMS text messages were sent over GSM networks per month in 1Q' 2001, five times more than the year previous.
Michael Whelan, Director of txtNation, commented: ‘It’s a great honour to be recognised for this award. This is a great credit to our team and our clients that we have come this far and have been recognised this year again by the industry.’
Today, messaging traffic remains strong with figures revealing that about a quarter of the 247 mobile operators for which data was available for both 2Q08 and 2Q09, said they saw their traffic grow over 50% year-on-year.
The awards shortlist highlights the fact that mobile messaging, and SMS in particular, is still a vibrant sector of the mobile industry.
