Team at KCOM Group swim second most dangerous river for Sparks
« Posted: August 13, 2013, 07:54:40 PM »

Employees at KCOM Group completed a gruelling 4.3 mile swim across the River Humber, one of the most treacherous rivers in the world, to raise money for its Charity Partner, Sparks.

From the south bank to the north bank, the River Humber usually stretches approximately 1.4 miles. On this occasion that distance was tripled.

The team of four battled windy conditions making their journey across the river relentless. The swell of the river reached three foot, which forced the team to swim an extra two miles.

They completed the challenge in just less than two hours, raising over £600 for Sparks and over £300 for Humber Rescue.

KCOM Group has a long standing commitment to fundraising, having raised over £300,000 during the last seven years through its Charity Partner programme. For the last 12 months KCOM has been raising money for Sparks, a leading children’s medical research charity, through a number of fundraising events, ranging from the Three Peaks Challenge to Skydiving.
