SpeedCast, one of the world's major international satellite telecommunications service providers, today announced the opening of its new facilities in Perth, Australia. The company also plans to unveil at Australasian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference (February 19-21) its new streamlined global operations to serve the Natural Resources sector, with the consolidation of SpeedCast, Australian Satellite Communications, Pactel International and Elektrikom Satellite Services under one global brand, SpeedCast.

Launching the new office in Perth is the company's next step in its strategic investment to address the needs of oil and gas and mining customers.  Previously together with its partner Satcomms Australia, SpeedCast invested in state-of-the-art teleport facilities in Perth's suburb of Henderson. This allows SpeedCast to provide services into Africa, Asia and Australia directly from Perth.

SpeedCast has strengthened its position in Australia with the acquisitions of established satellite industry players Australian Satellite Communications and Pactel International. As a result, the company is serving a large base of oil and gas and mining customers around the country and can leverage a team of over 50 professionals in Australia and over 100 in Asia-Pacific to support the needs of its natural resources customers in the region. The Perth office complements SpeedCast's presence and infrastructure in the region's other major oil and gas and mining hubs: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Port Moresby and Dubai.

"With the advent of the digital oilfield and new welfare applications, the industry's bandwidth requirements have increased exponentially, putting excessive pressure on network capacity and overall operational costs," said Mark Borgas, SpeedCast's VP of Australia-Pacific.

"Our leadership position in the Australian VSAT market positions us well and our solutions address the key issues the sector faces - cutting operating costs while keeping pace with capacity demands, deploying services which are totally reliable in difficult conditions by having a service provider who is fast to respond and deliver."

SpeedCast will inaugurate its Perth offices in Canning Vale on February 18 and then has a major presence at the AOG Exhibition the following days (Booth 5).

"Our rapid expansion into the Australian resource market complements SpeedCast's existing presence in other key natural resources hubs worldwide, allowing us to support our customers wherever they operate," said Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast.

"With key personnel in Sydney, Adelaide, Darwin and Perth, we are now strongly positioned to meet the local and global needs of our Australian-based customers.  I am very excited by our investments in Australia and looking forward to demonstrating innovative, reliable and cost effective solutions to the oil and gas industry during AOG this week in Perth."
