SpeedCast, the leading maritime satellite service provider in Asia, today announces the opening of its new facilities in Singapore. The new facility will focus on the delivery of service and support for the maritime market, augmenting SpeedCast’s extensive network in the region. The company also announced that it will be showcasing its maritime capabilities at this week’s Asia Pacific Maritime event in Singapore (March 19-21).

Launching the new upgraded office in Singapore is the company’s next step in its strategic investments to address the needs of maritime customers. The new facility includes warehousing, staging and testing capabilities and includes a significant increase in personnel in Singapore. This latest addition is a continuation of SpeedCast’s expansion in the region, following the recent opening of a facility in Perth, Australia to better service offshore customers there.

“Because Singapore is a major shipping hub and headquarters for numerous shipping and fleet management companies, it was natural for us to increase our presence here,” said Andre Eerland, SpeedCast’s VP for Maritime Sales, speaking from the Asia Pacific Maritime exhibition. “This complements our large Hong Kong and Rotterdam bases, and our smaller sales and support centers around the world, and enhances our ability to serve customers throughout the region.”

“This marks a great milestone for SpeedCast and demonstrates our dedication to service the maritime industry,” added Pierre-Jean Beylier, CEO of SpeedCast. “The depth of our support network is unparalleled in the region and this strongly resonates with our customers.”

SpeedCast is headquartered in Asia and is the only Asia-based service provider to operate its own global network. The company services hundreds of vessels in the region, delivering reliable and cost effective communication solutions to major customers and leveraging a unique support network with maritime-certified engineers in seven countries across Asia-Pacific, in addition to its support centers in Europe, Middle East, and the Americas. One customer benefitting from SpeedCast's services is China LNG Shipping (International) Co., Ltd. (CLSICO).

Ship management company, CLSICO specializes in delivering clean energy to China. SpeedCast is providing its well-known turn-key maritime VSAT solution, SeaCast, to deliver communications services on board each of CLSICO’s 6 LNG carriers for network access, ship management, crew communications and remote IT support.

Adam Leung, IT Manager at CLSICO, emphasized: “We require unmatched voice, email and data capabilities in order to manage our LNG ships to the highest international standards and to meet China's growing demand for clean energy. With SpeedCast, we’ve increased productivity and benefitted from cost savings, while improving safety and security across our fleet. We’ve also been able to satisfy crew requirements, which are hugely important in order to maximize staff retention.”

SeaCast, which will be showcased at Asia Pacific Maritime 2014 this week, is designed to ensure real-time, broadband, always-on, flat-fee connectivity at sea with worldwide coverage. The service provides the maritime industry with a one-stop shop fixed cost solution, while giving access to communications speeds and entertainment features unseen on many ships today. SeaCast is capable of delivering multiple Mbps broadband speeds, enabling crew calling and reduced call charges through digital voice, ensuring quality video transmission and surveillance, providing secure network access for corporate applications and facilitating remote M2M sensing.

“Our maritime network provides complete coverage of all key maritime routes,” added Andre Eerland. “As a pioneer on both the iDirect and Comtech platforms, we are continuing to push the envelope to deliver high-performance and high-reliability services for all of our customers. Thus, we are able to tailor our solutions based on the exact customer requirements.”

SpeedCast kicked off the week of Asia Pacific Maritime 2014 with two successful Maritime Customer Events, one in Hong Kong and one in Singapore, featuring industry experts, and focusing on satellite communications and shipping, with a strong positive response from customers.

SpeedCast will be exhibiting at Asia Pacific Maritime (Booth Q12).
