Epicor to Provide Duvale’s Management with Enhanced Visibility across all Operations
Epicor Software Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of Global 1000 companies, today announced that Duvale PLC, a specialist manufacturer of precision crafted acoustic movable walls and sliding folding partitions, has selected the Epicor 9 next-generation
enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. Epicor will replace the discrete systems used by Duvale’s finance, manufacturing and sales departments, as well as provide management reporting across the business.
As a successful specialist manufacturer that has experienced year-on-year double-digit growth and a turnover in excess on £5m, Duvale has made the replacement of its enterprise systems a strategic priority not only to support its business now, but for the future, as it continues to grow and expand into new geographies.
“While our current systems have served us well, we believe the business can achieve even greater success and leapfrog its competitors. Replacing our ERP system is a key part of moving forward,” said Mike Doorly, operations director at Duvale. “What attracted us to Epicor was that it could serve every area of our business out of the box with few changes, both now and in the future.”
One of the key challenges facing Duvale was the way its data and applications were isolated from each other, with much of the business relying on spreadsheets developed more than 15 years ago. This was having an impact in several areas of the business. First, the company was forced to keep high levels of stock, because it could not guarantee items would be available to meet the planned production timetables. Second, the company could not monitor the performance and profitability of individual production runs, even those that were standard products. Finally, the finance department had been overwhelmed by the strong and consistent growth of the business and needed to modernise its processes in order to deal with the two-month backlog it was facing.
“One of the key benefits of Epicor for us is the built-in dashboard and reporting,” added Doorly. “We will be able to run reports to review every aspect of the business, whether financial or manufacturing related, in an instant. With the dashboard our staff will be able to monitor their own performance by clocking in and out of individual jobs. We will also achieve accurate visibility across the business, something we have not been able to do before.”
Through its use of the embedded Epicor Configurator, the sales teams will be able to replace spreadsheets used for even the most complex products, and provide customers accurate pricing and delivery dates. The embedded Advanced Planning and Scheduling system within Epicor will mean Duvale can hold much lower stock levels, ordering materials as needed and freeing cash resources for other parts of its operations.
“For us Epicor is a solution that will grow with us over many years to come,” concluded Doorly. “Many of the companies we spoke with simply misunderstood what we wanted to achieve, but the Epicor team not only understood us, it had the product that covered all our needs.”
“Increasingly, we are engaging with customers that see refining their systems as a key part of their growth strategy as the global recovery gets underway,” added Matt Muldoon, vice president of product marketing at Epicor. “More than ever before customers are seeing the value in systems that provide deeply embedded functional processes and can easily adapt to meet the priorities they’ve identified for tackling the recovery, rather than forcing them to compromise.”
