Berlin, Germany, 27th September 2011 - skobbler, specialist developer of map-based apps, has announced that in preparation for the launch of its next generation hybrid  sat nav app, Navigation 2,  for a limited time the current premium version of its bestselling sat nav app “skobbler Navigation” is available to download from the Apple App Store for free. By downloading this version, users will then receive a free automatic upgrade to Navigation 2 in October.

Navigation 2 will feature skobbler’s brand new hybrid functionality which gives users the option to download maps to a device to help save on expensive data roaming charges whilst abroad and ensures uninterrupted service if a phone were to lose data connection. The ability to navigate both online and offline addresses the main problems that current online sat nav app users encounter, providing the perfect balance between service reliability and economic usage of limited storage capacity on mobile devices.

From now until October, both new customers and the 350,000 existing users of skobbler’s original free app “skobbler Lite” (which is being discontinued upon the release of Navigation 2) can take advantage of this free offer. Navigation 2 will then be sold at its regular price in the Apple App Store thereafter.
