London/Boston (24 July 2013) SilverRail Technologies, the largest consolidator of passenger rail content from around the world, has entered a new partnership with Deutsche Bahn, one of the leading transportation and logistics companies worldwide. This new agreement allows German passenger rail tickets to be sold globally through online travel agencies and other travel sellers around the world. Deutsche Bahn rail content will be launched immediately to the market through SilverRail’s partnership with GetThere, and with SilverRail’s other self-booking corporate and leisure travel portals in the near future.
“This is an important partnership because SilverRail will grow the passenger base for Deutsche Bahn’s services and in particular, our international train services across the European continent,” said Marc Giesen, Head of International Sales at DB Vertrieb GmbH.
Deutsche Bahn operates about 25,300 passenger trains daily on a dense network within Germany. With speeds of up to 300 kph, DB’s high-speed ICE trains provide a great connectivity within Germany with its high service frequency and level of comfort.
“Adding an important European rail carrier like Deutsche Bahn to the SilverRail supplier network validates SilverRail’s approach to global distribution and our ability to sell rail tickets anywhere in the world,” stated Alain van West, VP Business Development at SilverRail.
SilverRail has simplified the complex rail market by building a global distribution platform, SilverCore, to aggregate global rail content into a single, unified system through direct supplier connections. SilverRail enables global rail search irrespective of operators, geographies and currencies and currently integrates rail tickets from Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the USA, with other major suppliers across the globe to follow.
