Integration, Flexibility and Out-of-the-Box Functionality “Beat the Competition”

Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organisations, today announced that Sigma Precision Components, an international precision machining and pipe manufacturing supplier to the aerospace, nuclear and energy industries, has gone live on the Epicor next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, replacing its legacy SAP® system.

Acquired in 2012 by Avingtrans PLC, Sigma Components had an immediate need to migrate away from its previous holding company’s group-wide ERP solution with the minimum of disruption to its daily operations.  Across Avingtrans a number of different ERP solutions were being used, so it was decided to go out to the market and review the solutions that would offer the smoothest migration and best feature set for Sigma Components’ operations in the UK and China.

“We needed a solution with a rich set of features out-of-the-box covering our end-to-end business processes, and strong integration so that we could connect into our new parent company systems where needed,” said Mark Johnson, managing director at Sigma Components.  “We were also looking for a package that gave us the flexibility to implement our own business processes and application customisations where needed, without the need for expensive third part software developments.”

Sigma Components decided that the next-generation Epicor ERP solution offered the best balance of flexibility and out-of-the-box features for all its key operational areas including sales, finance, customer relationship management (CRM), and manufacturing.  In addition, the strength of the platform and the Epicor commitment to continually improve its solution provides a basis on which the implementation can potentially be extended to other Avingtrans sites in the future, creating a powerful group-wide ERP solution.
