Record Number of Exhibitors and Visitors for Data Centre World 2012
« Posted: January 31, 2012, 09:57:56 PM »

Over 140 data centre vendors, resellers and equipment suppliers to showcase solutions between 29th February and 1st March 2012

January 31st 2012, London – A record number of exhibitors will attend the fifth annual Data Centre World exhibition and conference, taking place at London Olympia between 29th February and 1st March 2012. Data Centre World is the UK’s largest and fastest growing exhibition for data centre managers, professionals, distributors and channel partners.

Now in its fifth year, the event is set to surpass last year’s record attendance of 2,541 visitors. The free to attend conference will be visited by leading technology providers and buyers from across the data centre sector. A survey undertaken at the show last year found that that 38% of visitors planned to spend over £1m annually on data centre products and services – representing almost £1billion of potential business for exhibitors and attendees.

The conference will also provide visitors with panel discussions, case studies and presentations on the latest issues affecting the data centre. These will be given across three conference theatres; ‘Virtualisation and the Cloud’, ‘IT and Management’ and ‘Infrastructure and Facilities’. A total of 48 sessions are scheduled to take place, with keynote speakers from the world’s leading data centre technology companies including:

IBM, Steve Strutt: Innovation in IT reduces energy costs

Microsoft, Simon May: Managing your cloud

Hitachi Data Systems, Francois Zimmermann: Transforming the data centre to the information centre

Yahoo, Chandrashekar Naik: Challenges and automations for managing large storage systems

Interxion, Dr. Graeme Creasey: Data centre sustainability and operational excellence

Ark, Ian Bitterlin: Trends in high efficiency data centre M&E designs

With many companies starting to implement green technologies to coincide with the launch of the government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, strategies for implementing such technologies are likely to be high on most business agendas this year. Visitors to last year’s show stated that they were interested in purchasing in the following segments: cooling and power management (58%), design and build (38%), servers (32%) and security products (30%), underlining the wide breadth of opportunities available at the show.

Thomas Pavel, director channel sales EMEA, LSI: “The continuing growth in data driven by smartphones, tablets and cloud-based services is taxing today’s infrastructure and changing how data centres are built. Networking and storage solutions that deliver greater intelligence, flexibility and performance while accelerating applications are key to the next generation of data centres. Data Centre World provides an excellent platform for everyone to discuss the latest technologies, as well as the tools and knowledge they are implementing to drive data centres forward.”

Daniel Lowe, managing director for managed data at Six Degrees Group, who will be attending the show, comments: “Data Centre World provides the ideal forum for end users, resellers and operators to interact and discuss the trend towards data centre convergence.”

John Hatcher, Data Centre World conference director, said: “The record number of exhibitors at this year’s show highlights the growing importance of the data centre industry in the midst of an economic recession. The volume of data processed and stored in data centres continues to increase at a rapid pace, which brings new cooling, virtualisation and utilisation technologies into a new and sharper focus. With the most comprehensive collection of data centre experts in the UK now registered, this is an event that shouldn’t be missed by anyone in the industry.”

Exhibitors wanting to follow the latest show news can join the press, analysts and key industry figures who follow the show at @DataCentreWorld. By using the #dcwexpo hash tag, exhibitors can ensure their news is included in the all discussions relating to the conference.
