Bracknell, UK. 31st March 2011: Panasonic Toughbook continued its domination of the European rugged and durable notebook market in 2010 and topped the table for customer satisfaction, VDC research published this month reveals.

Toughbook’s share of the market by revenue grew from 62.6% in 2009 to 65.3% in 2010.  European growth was seen in new and exciting markets such as alternative energy, smart meters, automotive diagnostics, e-patient record access and internet retail delivery. All these markets require mobile workers in challenging environments to have reliable and secure access to applications.

In a separate VDC Research survey into customer satisfaction, Toughbook also came out on top in categories for Overall Customer Satisfaction, Likelihood of Repeat Purchase and Vendor Most Likely to Recommend. The findings were based on independent surveys of 154 organisations and 40 in-depth interviews across all industry sectors.

The customer satisfaction results show Toughbook scored highly across its wide range of rugged and convertible notebooks and tablet devices for their ergonomic design and display readability in dark or bright sunlight environments. In addition, the company was recognized for its high-level of service support, excellent partner network and understanding of customers’ application needs.

“In today’s economy, we find organizations need to re-invent their business processes to really cut costs, move into new markets quickly or give a better customer experience. They just can’t do this with traditional mobile computers since their competitors use exactly the same tools or their traditional computers aren’t up to the job. Panasonic Toughbooks allow organisations to ‘change the game’ because they finally give key workers reliable and affordable access to key IT systems. They allow companies to drastically reduce costs, improve cycle times or give better customer experience,” said Stephen Yeo, Panasonic Toughbook European Marketing Director. “Our dedication to this market since 1994 combined with our Panasonic philosophy of continuous improvement has given us a very good platform to deliver customer satisfaction. This stands behind both the high market share and customer satisfaction figures from VDC.”

David Krebs, Director of the Mobile and Wireless Practice at VDC Research, commented: “The critical success factors for leading organisations in this market include the quality of technical services support, the overall hardware performance and the ability for vendors to understand the specific end user solution requirements. Our research revealed that Panasonic is well positioned across all of these requirements, translating into share gain and extension of its leadership position in Europe’s rugged notebook market.”
