European enterprises and developers can take advantage of leading open cloud services plus instant deployment to scale out their applications
London, Feb 25, 2013 - Ospero, Ltd., a leading cloud service provider, today announced the launch of its Cloud Foundry™-based Platform-as-a-Service offering running on VMware® vCloud Director®.
Ospero is partnering with VMware, the global leader in virtualization, and Cloud Credo, experts in cloud solutions, to accelerate developer productivity in European enterprises with the launch of its Cloud Foundry-based PaaS running on Ospero.vGrid via VMware vCloud Director, which orchestrates and simplifies the provisioning of datacenter services like storage, networking, and security.
European enterprises and developers can now take advantage of leading open cloud services along with instant deployment and scale out of their applications. With this launch, Ospero provides customers in the European Union complete assurance that their data never leaves their home country, enabling them to comply with strict data sovereignty laws.
In addition to the open data storage technologies such as MySQL and MongoDB provided in Cloud Foundry, developers are given the option to utilize a Cassandra database. What’s more, the open source nature of Cloud Foundry makes it easy to add new frameworks and services that increase developer productivity.
“Our job is to provide elastic, managed, virtual compute and storage for businesses around the world,” said Jason Currill, CEO of Ospero. “We see enormous growth potential for open source PaaS adoption within organisations and are proud to partner with VMware and OpenCredo to deliver a European instance of VMware® Cloud Foundry™ PaaS.”
“At CloudCredo we are seeing a massive increase in demand for PaaS solutions that maintain deployment flexibility whilst delivering reduced costs and increased productivity,” said Jonas Partner, CEO of CloudCredo. “We see VMware® Cloud Foundry™ as the most compelling product in the PaaS space. We are excited both to be partnering with Ospero to add PaaS to their already innovative portfolio, as well as providing support for Cassandra as part of this initial deployment.”
“We are proud to partner with Ospero and Cloud Credo to deliver a PaaS instance that can provide the developer productivity benefits of Cloud Foundry with the customization needed by our European customers,” said James Watters, Head of Product, Marketing and Ecosystem for Cloud Foundry at VMware. “We are eager to provide next-generation applications and services enabled through this partnership.”
