Telehouse to ease market demand, offer industry leading customer service; and new standards of resilience and redundancy

LONDON, UK, March 24th, 2010 – Telehouse, the leading provider of global data centres, and managed ICT services, today announced there is just one week to go until the launch of its new £80 million Telehouse West data centre, which will provide 19,000 square metres of secure data centre services. The facility will bring the total amount of power at its Docklands site to 40MVA, providing organisations with access to a massive 6KW per rack to ensure all customer power requirements are met both now and in the future.

Spread over nine floors, five with a ‘localised data centre environment’, the facility will also provide 424 racks per floor. Telehouse West has been designed to overcome the power shortage in the capital, offering customers four redundant HV power systems on separate grids for maximum redundancy and reliability levels of 99.999%. In addition, the facility will offer:

- 2(N+1) redundant UPS floor by floor
- Standby generators with a minimum of 24 hours autonomy at full capacity.
- 8 x 2.5MVA 11kV Generators
- Redundant A & B power feeds to customer equipment
- 6 x 2.7 MW chillers for air conditioning and cooling
- 2 redundant standby generators

Telehouse West will provide 19,000 square metres of secure data centre services for UK businesses and will act as a communications hub to over 400 carriers, ASPs and ISP, allowing customers to choose the service that best suits their needs. In addition, the Company is also offering managed services (including system integration, network services and ICT consultancy) for customers of the Telehouse West facility including systems observer, tape back-up, router support services and technical support.

“Telehouse West has been constructed to ease the UK’s capacity and power needs. We currently already receive an industry high 94% customer satisfaction rating; something we hope to improve further when the new facility opens in April 2010. It will also be the most advanced, feature-rich data centre the UK has ever seen. The flagship data centre will provide organisations with the energy and capacity they so desperately need,” said Bob Harris, Technical Services Director of Telehouse.

Furthermore, Telehouse West will be able to recover waste heat and transform it into energy for the local Docklands community, helping organisations to meet their green agenda, and mitigate their carbon footprint ready for the introduction of the government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) in April 2010.

When operational, Telehouse West will be home to the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and will offer customers access to the UK’s widest choice of carriers, operators, ISPs and Internet Exchanges.
