Global PSTN and voice system specialist Andrew Whitehead has joined Nova Incepta’s PSTN Sustain team as a lead consultant. Andrew will work on international contracts, helping PTTs world-wide to maintain their legacy PSTN equipment and prolong their return on investment. He will be one of a number of key consultants in the Nova Incepta team dedicated to providing support and lengthening the life of legacy systems.
The Nova Incepta telecoms engineering consultancy group operates globally to provide people and skills for telecoms projects world-wide. The company delivers a proven range of engineering, operations, regulatory and sales consultancy services to the telecoms industry, in areas such as network transformation, repairs, network interconnect, optimisation and security, legacy technology support and training and education.
Nova Incepta “Nova Incepta offers a unique blend of telecoms expertise that encompasses legacy and next generation networks combined with both operator and vendor perspectives,” says Andrew. “Sustaining the PSTN is most definitely not a question of keeping hardware and software coasting along – it requires specific planning and action in order to make this a viable and strategic option that protects an organisation’s asset value.”
Mr Whitehead joins an established team of PSTN Sustain experts and consultants. His role will include helping Nova Incepta’s customers to keep their PSTN systems operational for ten years or more beyond their originally designated end-of-life. He will help international service providers and PTTs to maximise the value of their existing assets by identifying cost-effective and realistic ongoing maintenance and recommending hardware and software replacements that will help prolong the overall infrastructure.
He is highly skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of sustaining the PSTN and developing on-going voice strategy. He has over 25years’ experience working for Plessey, GPT and Marconi in a wide variety of high-technology roles from R&D to Product Marketing. He started his career in the development of silicon integrated circuits, progressing to product management, marketing and business development for PSTN, Intelligent Networks, Broadband Access and Softswitch technologies. Andrew has worked closely with most of the UK and many international operators and been involved in collaboration with Italtel, Alcatel and Ericsson in transformation projects for both BT and Telecom Italia. He is a specialist in network studies and long-term planning, risk analysis and scenario planning, competitive analysis and life-cycle management in both hardware and software.
“We are delighted to have Andrew on board,” commented Richard Kendall, MD of Nova Incepta Europe. “PSTN Sustain is an increasingly important area of our work as PTTs’ legacy systems reach end of life and equipment is no longer supported by the manufacturers. Our team has all the skills in place to help prolong these systems and protect the assets and investments of our customers. Andrew brings a wealth of experience and top level skills to the team.”
