LONDON, UK, October 13, 2009 – HP today announced the new HP Pavilion dv8 Entertainment Laptop PC. The stunning 18.4-inch, full high-definition, ultra-widescreen, ultra BrightView display with built-in TV tuner, Blu-ray disk reader and subwoofer delivers home theatre-quality audio and video for an outstanding entertainment experience.

Strikingly crafted, the scratch-proof liquid metallic surface in the chic HP Espresso Imprint pattern will add a touch of style to any room of the house.

The HP Pavilion dv8 includes the revolutionary HP Long Life Battery, powered by Sonata® cells from Boston-Power®, which supports more than 1,000 recharges, an improvement of three to five times over conventional lithium-ion batteries. Not only does the HP Long Life Battery offer better performance but it is better for the environment as the need to replace batteries less frequently means that fewer batteries are disposed of and less landfill is used.  It is the only battery with the prestigious Nordic Ecolabel certification.

The Intel® Core™ i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M graphics card with 1GB DDR3 SDRAM, as well as the DDR3 memory, guarantee more than enough power for even the most demanding entertainment needs.

In addition to the new dv8, HP also announced several technology updates to its current HP Pavilion dv6 and dv7 Entertainment Laptop PCs. Both the mid-size 15.6- inch dv6 and the larger 17.3-inch dv7 will offer users the choice of either the new Intel® Core™ i7 processor or the latest AMD Turion II ultra Dual Core processor.  Furthermore, NVIDIA graphics and DDR3 SDRAM will be available on select dv6 and dv7 models.
