June 24 2010 - Sophia Antipolis: Independent computer room and data centre specialist, Migration Solutions, has been appointed by a new, undisclosed, entrant to the market who has recently acquired a 60,000 square foot data centre in Norwich. The data centre, which previously belonged to a major insurance player, is a purpose built facility and Migration Solutions has been awarded the contract for its refurbishment which has an initial value of approximately £12 million.
Alex Rabbetts, Managing Director of Migration Solutions, said: “We are delighted with the contract – the data centre industry is moving rapidly into growth mode and so are we. This is currently the largest data centre refurbishment project going on in the UK and I believe that we will see a much more active data centre sector this year as some operators consolidate and others are required to meet growing environmental pressures. Migration Solutions is excellently positioned as a company to respond to this market growth.
The new owners of the data centre commented that Migration Solutions was selected for this major refurbishment project because of the company’s experience and track record in the data centre industry, and its leadership in specialist data centre consultancy.
Migration Solutions is participating in the sixth annual Data Centres Europe conference this week in Sophia Antipolis, France (24&25th June 2010). Alex Rabbetts will be presenting ‘A Guide to the European Code of Conduct’, a session which looks at securing Green credentials for data centres.
