7th September 2011 – Ascribe has announced today the ‘Go Live’ of the Ascribe Symphony Emergency Department (“ED”) Clinical Solution at Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Ascribe’s ED solution is an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system designed to improve patient flow through the department, providing users with simple, yet comprehensive access to clinical information at ‘the point of care’.  The system will support the Trust’s Emergency Department which serves the South Bedfordshire population of approximately 350,000.

The Trust chose Ascribe’s solution for a number of reasons. Ascribe’s Symphony is a market-leading ED clinical system in the UK, having been developed by clinicians in the UK and continuously refined and developed for over 15 years. The system provides a wide range of rich clinical features and a user friendly graphical interface which improves access to patient information and retrieval of real-time clinical data. The system can operate on a stand-alone basis or it can be integrated with existing patient administration, diagnostic and/or finance systems.

Ascribe’s ED solution also provides Emergency Departments with more accurate Clinical Decision Support (CDS) and tracks clinical quality indicators; the system interacts with decision support databases, hospital or department guidelines and intranets.

David Kirby, Consultant of Emergency Medicine at the Trust, commented on the Go Live: “A lot of work went into the system configuration and on the go-live date, the system worked without fault with only minor problems being ironed out rapidly by the on-site support team.”

The Trust is an existing user of the Ascribe's Endoscopic clinical systems and had formerly used Ascribe's AEII Clinical system for Emergency Departments prior to purchasing Ascribe's updated ED solution, Symphony.
