New professional VPN client Mac OS X
LONDON, UK, 21st June, 2010 – Network specialist LANCOM Systems is extending its portfolio of VPN solutions with a professional VPN client for MacBook, iBook, MacPro & Co. The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac supports operating systems Mac OS X Leopard (10.5, Intel only) and Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) and allows full remote access to a corporate network over any Internet connection using a high-security IPsec VPN. The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac is the latest member of the AppleTM Macintosh-compatible family of solutions from LANCOM, which includes VPN routers, VPN gateways and AirPort-compatible access points some of which are based on 802.11n. The VPN client can be used anywhere and can connect with all IPsec-compliant routers or gateways.
The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac offers high-end security features for a professional VPN connection to even large heterogeneous networks at an attractive price. It includes a port-based stateful inspection firewall with its own firewall rules for known and unknown networks, strong authentication with X.509 certificates and a cryptographic module certified to FIPS 140-2.
Simple configuration and operation of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for Mac is guaranteed by the import and/or exchange of VPN profiles with the VPN Client version for Windows or from LANCOM's 1-Click Wizard. Other features include Friendly Net Detection and the innovative Pathfinder technology, which automatically switches to an alternative connection protocol if a connection is not possible via standard IPsec. This gives the user the possibility to connect to the central network via a VPN even when Internet access is restricted, for example when hotspots are configured with restrictive security settings or in UMTS networks. Communication can be via ISDN, modem, (wireless) LAN, UMTS or iPhone tethering (with USB or Bluetooth).
