New professional VDSL router LANCOM 1681V for broadband VPN site connectivity

London, UK, Tuesday 22nd March, 2011 - German networking vendor LANCOM Systems expands its range of VPN routers with one of the first professional VDSL routers for corporate applications. The LANCOM 1681V seamlessly integrates branch offices, partner companies or mobile users through IPsec VPN. The compact high-speed router (up to 50 Mbps downstream and 10 Mbps upstream) is the LANCOM product for small companies or branch offices that require high bandwidths and place high demands on security, availability and management.

The LANCOM 1681V features an integrated VDSL modem, four freely configurable ports for LAN, WAN (up to 2-channel load balancing and backup connections with additional ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modems), DMZ, VLAN and monitoring, as well as an ISDN interface for remote control, LANcapi and Dynamic VPN. 5 VPN channels with hardware acceleration are available as standard, with an additional option increasing this to 25 channels. What's more, the LANCOM 1681V supports up to eight virtual IP networks: Virtualization allows the LANs and the WAN interface to be used for multiple purposes.

The LANCOM 1681V has a USB port for use either as a print server or to provide a backup for the VDSL connection via cellular networking. A 3G/4G cellular modem in the form of a standard USB stick automatically provides a backup over cellular networks if the primary connection should fail.

Security and backup included
The integrated firewall with stateful inspection, intrusion detection, and denial-of-service protection screens the network safely and reliably from attacks from the Internet. The management tools supplied offer not only convenient remote maintenance of entire installations and useful setup wizards—such as the 1-Click-VPN wizard which allows the easy setup of VPN connections between LANCOM routers—but also real-time monitoring and logging. Comprehensive backup and high-availability functions guarantee smooth 24-hour operations. The optional web content filter secures the intranet for up to 50 users simultaneously.

The LANCOM 1681V is available now at a price of EUR 599 excluding VAT.
