Solar expert enables power optimization of solar systems, leading to 45% increase in energy harvest

Alheim-Heinebach, October 25, 2011 – Kirchner Solar Group announced today it will present a pioneering and high energy yielding photovoltaic (PV) tracking solution sonnen_system at the UK solar industry’s leading event, Solar Power UK 2011, this week. The astronomically guided tracking system follows the sun, to ensure that an optimum sun radiation angle of 90 degrees is always maintained, allowing solar power plant operators to increase their energy harvest by up to 45% in comparison to parallel roof mounted PV systems.

Kirchner Solar Park The precise, dual-axis solution automatically aligns solar modules by means of a pivot, resulting in a more constant and predictable level of energy output.  It also allows space to be used directly underneath the solar panels, to help maximise use of land, for uses such as parking or agriculture.

The sonnen_system tracking solution will be part of two new product packages that Kirchner Solar is launching at Solar Power UK. The track_10_max package encompasses 1 sonnen_system, 1 feed-in converter from SMA and 36 panels of Panda monocrystalline module technology from Yingli Solar.  The track_50_max package is designed for larger products and encompasses 5 sonnen_systems, 5 feed-in converters from SMA and 180 panels of Panda monocrystalline module technology from Yingli Solar.

In Great Britain, Kirchner Solar successfully works with partners including SRE Technologies (based in Northamptonshire and 3rdRock Renewables (based in Norfolk). “For some time now, we have been actively implementing projects for the British market. So this year, we are delighted to see our product portfolio presented for the first time at Solar Power UK. Being able to predict and ensure a reliable energy harvest is key for those using solar power.  Therefore we are looking forward to exhibiting the tracking solutions we have developed with SMA Solar Technology, which have proven results both in terms of energy predictability and reliability”, said Lars Kirchner, CEO of Kirchner Solar Group.

From 26-28 October 2011, Kirchner Solar Group will provide information about tracking systems to help optimise solar energy harvests at stand B2-2 in the Exhibition Hall of Solar Power UK 2011 in Birmingham, UK.
