Data centre operator lends its support to drive the green agenda

Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centres, today announced its sponsorship of the Sixth Annual Data Centres Europe Awards Ceremony, taking place on 22--23 April at Sophia Antipolis near Nice.

The Sixth Annual Data Centres Europe Awards 2010 will include a special focus on enterprise customers and their evolving outsourcing needs as cloud computing and new technologies impact the sector. The two-day international meeting will encompass a content-led program and an annual prestigious awards ceremony and gala dinner, which Interxion has also sponsored. This year’s awards ceremony will include the European Green Initiative Awards, which have been endorsed and will be presented by the Green Grid.

Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director will contribute to the event by participating in a leadership roundtable discussion on best practice around managing data centre businesses and key areas for growth and development with other senior executives from the sector. In addition Lex Coors, Vice President Data Centre Technology and Engineering Group’s keynote address will outline energy efficiency strategies for data centre design, build and operations, with a specific focus on how best to improve power usage effectiveness (PUE).

Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer, Interxion, said, “The data centre market has benefited from sustained growth over the past year despite the many challenges the market has been confronted with. The Data Centres Europe event is an ideal arena in which to share best practice and build consensus in the sector. Furthermore, we are honoured to have an opportunity to be involved with an awards programme that is recognised by the sector as rewarding service quality, management excellence and technical achievement for the European data centre industry.”
