Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that its Technology & Engineering Group, has been recognised for their “Outstanding Contribution to the Data Centre Sector” at the sixth-annual Data Centre Europe Awards ceremony held at Espaces Antipolis in Nice, France.
The occasion is recognised as Europe’s most prestigious data centre industry awards ceremony and honours the recipient for the group's service quality, management excellence and technical achievement within the European data centre market. The award was presented to Interxion’s Vice President of Technology & Engineering, Lex Coors, and was given to the team based on their outstanding achievements within the data centre industry.
Interxion has been managing complex engineering, design and building challenges since the early 1980s. It has pioneered several new approaches to data centre design, build and operations, including introducing modular design and sustainable construction programmes. These novel approaches enabled Interxion to become a key influencer and promoter of energy efficiency optimisation in the data centre sector.
This has resulted in Interxion taking industry leadership roles as founder of the European chapter of the Uptime Institute, as a contributing member to The Green Grid and in active involvement and participation in shaping the European Commission’s Data Center Code of Conduct programme. In addition, Interxion executives now regularly participate as keynote speakers and panel member in various seminars where they are able to share best practice in energy efficiency around design, cooling systems, power system topologies and data centre operations.
Kevin Dean, Chief Marketing Officer at Interxion, commented, “This is a fantastic honour for our Technology & Engineering Group, which have been responsible for the design, build and upgrade of nearly 55,000m2 of space in 27 data centres across 11 countries. Interxion’s Technology & Engineering Group have been instrumental in developing and applying best practice across the entire company footprint and promoting the adoption of these practices across the sector."
The award ceremony took place on Thursday, 24 June, and was part of a two-day international meeting that included a content-led programme, incorporating a special focus on enterprise customers and their evolving outsourcing needs as cloud computing and new technologies impact the sector. This was then followed by the annual awards ceremony and gala dinner, which Interxion had also sponsored.
