Growing ecommerce market drives demand for PCI compliance
London, UK – 10 May 2011,
Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest advanced next-generation network, today announced that it has achieved Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) certification for its London data centre. PCI DSS is a security standard for online credit card transactions set out by the PCI Security Standard Council, founded by leading credit card organisations including American Express, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa.
Interoute attained compliance through an independent Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) for its managed hosting solution.
The PCI DSS standards ensure the best security controls are in place to protect credit card data and personal information from online fraud and theft, providing added assurance for businesses that their data is fully protected. With ecommerce spending in the UK alone rising 18 per cent in 2010, demand for PCI compliant data centres is on the rise. For any ecommerce business it is essential that it has the security guarantees of how and where its critical credit card data is stored.
“Interoute’s managed hosting solutions are trusted by some of the world’s largest companies to protect sensitive e-commerce transaction data,” said Dirk Wehler, Hosting Business Development Director UK at Interoute. “We understand the necessity of securing data, and offer a full portfolio of secure solutions to ensure that data security risks are fully mitigated. With our PCI DSS certification, organisations are given an extra layer of assurance that their data is stored in a secure and compliant environment. Any business trusting their data to our managed hosting solutions is confident that security is at our core.”
Interoute offers a comprehensive portfolio of security solutions to support the PCI DSS compliance security measures, from secure data centres, modular managed hosting and security services for protecting card holder’s data, to secure transmission IP VPN, DDOS protection, Intrusion Protection and encryption solutions. In addition, Interoute offers a Web application firewall (WAF), which provides a second layer of protection on top of the front end firewall. Every business is run on multiple applications that talk and share data in order for the business to run effectively. The WAF only permits authorised applications to talk and share within the data centre, ensuring that requests from unauthorised applications are rejected.
Interoute’s Amsterdam, Berlin and Geneva Data Centres are also PCI DSS accredited.
