EasyJet and Belgian national railway company present tablet best practice

BRACKNELL, UK. 5TH JUNE 2014

How easyJet and the Belgian national railway company have used rugged tablet technology to revolutionise the way that cabin crew and train drivers work will be just two of the case studies discussed at the Panasonic Aviation and Transport Innovation Forum 2014, being held in London on June 5th.

EasyJet has deployed Panasonic Toughpad FZ-G1 rugged tablets on its 222 aircraft for flight crew use for flight performance calculations, electronic charts and documentation. Train drivers for the Belgian national railway company NMBS use their Panasonic Toughpad tablets to access up to date, customised track and technical information essential for the safe operation of their vehicles. Speakers from both organisations will explain how they have used tablets to revolutionise the way their mobile workers operate and the cost savings and productivity improvements they have experienced as a result of the implementations.

These practical case studies will be introduced by keynote speaker and Europe’s leading futurologist Patrick Dixon with his thoughts on the Future of Transportation. IDC analyst Andrew Buss will provide insight on Mobile Computing Mega-Trends in Aviation and Transport and Microsoft’s Fredrik Uddegard will discuss the Business Value of Modern IT in Transportation.

Expert technology partners such as NetMotion Wireless, Loccioni Group, Absolute and Scandanavian Avionics will also be presenting at the event to demonstrate how tablets can be deployed in the aviation and transport industry as part of a turnkey technology solution.

“We are bringing business and technology experts together to look at how tablets are radically changing the way mobile workers operate in the transportation and aviation industry,” said Jan Kaempfer, Head of European Marketing at Panasonic Computer Product Solutions. “We will be looking at best practice for today’s implementations and the opportunities this technology will offer businesses in the future. Obviously, these industries are complicated with major issues such as safety and regulation as everyday concerns but with the business examples we will be highlighting and the technology solution partners we have on hand, I am confident that we will be able to address any mobile worker business challenge.”
