Fulcrum Mobile buys US assets of Interlinked Media Incorporated – ImpulsePay focuses on UK mobile purchasing solution
London, 14th September 2010: Interlinked Media Ltd, the parent company of ImpulsePay (
www.impulsepay.com) has announced the divestiture of its US business, Interlinked Media Incorporated to Fulcrum Mobile, LLC of the U.S. The sale, for an undisclosed fee, will allow the UK arm of the business to focus on further growing ImpulsePay, which is the leading
mobile purchasing service provider.
Fulcrum Mobile, based in Tulsa, has been rapidly expanding its mobile marketing operations in the US and the purchase of Interlinked Media Inc’s business, including all intellectual property, existing partners, clients, contracts, as well as the company name and existing domain names, will greatly accelerate its plans.
Interlinked Media Ltd will now focus its energies on growing its mobile purchasing business through ImpulsePay. As the only company dedicated to Payforit, ImpulsePay is the UK’s fastest growing
Payforit provider. ImpulsePay provides content owners, application developers and even adult and gambling sites a simple and easy to use process to establish a mobile purchasing service.
“We’re really proud of the work we’ve done in the US over the last four years, especially working with Hillary Clinton on her campaign,” said Paul Paterson, Operations Director of ImpulsePay. “However, we feel that there are opportunities for enormous growth in the mobile purchasing sector and we are looking forward to further growth for ImpulsePay.”
Mobile purchasing has grown as a sector and ImpulsePay’s service, based on
Payforit, rivals both credit card payments and
Premium SMS for content owners looking to add a payment service on their website.
Using Payforit – the payment service supported by all licensed UK mobile operators and working on any mobile handset in the UK – ImpulsePay collects payment directly from the user’s mobile phone bill, or available credit if on PAYG. This means that anyone with a mobile phone can now buy content, make a donation or pay for a mobile application on their phone or online.
One of the advantages of ImpulsePay for content owners is how simple the service is to set up and use. Previously, online payments could only be completed using credit cards,
Premium SMS or a dedicated service such as PayPal. However, these methods often proved to be complicated to set up for the content owners. They can also be cumbersome or confusing for many potential customers – meaning fewer eventual transactions.
ImpulsePay’s
mobile purchasing solution asks consumers to complete a simple 3-step process that involves entering their mobile number online, receiving an SMS containing a PIN code and then entering that code online. If they are purchasing from a mobile website, the whole transaction can be completed with a single-click.
Using a mobile solution allows more people to make a payment, increasing the size of the target market, while the simplicity of ImpulsePay’s service means fewer failed or aborted transactions.
Another key advantage is that the mobile websites which use Payforit find that the revenue split is similar to the 70:30 model offered by Apple’s iPhone App Store, but works on both mobile and standard web sites.
