London, 24 June 2013 – This year the world’s largest broadband event, the Broadband World Forum, highlights the transformative power of broadband with smart cities, e-learning and consumer centric strategies high on the agenda. This comes as the industry struggles to meet growing consumer demand and grapple with discussion on the need for faster broadband speeds.

The keynote line-up will provide unique, thought leadership and discussion stimulus with industry figureheads & market disruptors already confirmed to take part. Google Fiber’s General Manager, Kevin Lo, will provide much fuel for the fire on Day 1, which will be an interesting compliment to the presentation to be given by Wing Lee, CEO of Malaysian operator YTL. Lee will showcase the first ever nationwide education transformation project using 4G and cloud services as an example of the transformative socio-economic benefits of broadband.

Vice President of the European Commission, Neelie Kroes will join the Broadband World Forum again as a Keynote, at a time when increasing broadband penetration levels and boosting speeds makes up a crucial part of the EU’s Digital Agenda. Kroes will be joined by Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, CTO, Deutsche Telekom AG, German, Balan Nair, CTO, Liberty Global, USA, Stephen Bye, CTO, Sprint, USA, and Vivek Badrinath, Deputy CEO, Orange, France.

2013’s Broadband World Forum will place a spotlight on digital innovations and the possibilities with broadband as industry debate on the need for gigabit speeds rages on. Following a successful move to Amsterdam in 2012, the Broadband World Forum returns to the Dutch capital in 2013, which provides a fitting choice of venue, particularly as the City of Amsterdam was named 2013’s world smart capital. Taking place on the 22-24 October at the RAI convention centre, the event provides a much needed platform for fiery discussions on whether emerging innovative services and applications, such as e-learning, smart cities and cloud, are enough to drive the need for increased speed.

The conference programme will include a host of interesting and unique industry disruptors, who will play a key role in highlighting digital innovations and the industry’s opportunity for collaboration to please increasingly demanding consumers. This includes Daniel Danker, Chief Product Officer, Shazam, UK; Andreas Gal, VP Mobile Engineering, Mozilla USA, Mozilla; Michael Abbatistsa, Global Head of Telco Partnerships, Spotify; and Alex Pachikov, VP Partnerships, Evernote.

Conference Manager, Frankie Brewer said of the show: “We’re really excited about the Broadband World Forum this year.  Our Keynote line-up is fantastic and promises to stimulate some really productive dialogue which will trickle down into the meetings and discussions to be had in the conference and exhibition over the three days of the show. The agenda is truly comprehensive and we’re really taping into the hottest topics, cutting edge technologies & market leading strategies in the industry at the moment from access network evolutions, to mobile innovations, the rise of virtualisation and the issue of customer experience which lies at the heart of it all.”

The 13th annual event, once again re-affirms its place as one of the largest and most prestigious telecoms, media and IT events on the calendar with five tracks across three days delivered by visionary speakers, sponsors and exhibitors showcasing revolutionary broadband technologies, applications, solutions and services. The comprehensive agenda features some of the most talked about topics in the industry at present including SDN, NFV and cloud, as well as the connected home, customer experience excellence, mobile and wireless broadband innovations, fixed access developments, IP transformation and core networks evolution.
