(Ledbury, May 15th) The future growth of rail services depends on improved train to shore communications. That’s what a major international conference will discuss in London next month. Hosted by transport and wireless consultancy BWCS, Train Communications Systems 2013 has already attracted train operators and suppliers from Russia, the US, the Ukraine, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Norway and elsewhere, all keen to hear about the latest developments in this fast-moving sector.

“Wireless services to and from trains will underpin attempts to attract passengers, improve services, run more trains and reduce costs over the next 20 years” argues BWCS Managing Director Graham Wilde. “This conference has become the main meeting point for those involved in this vital, niche sector.”

With over 50 train companies across Europe alone, currently offering on-train WiFi – the conference will examine how the market for broadband wireless services to and from trains will move forward – what can the train operators expect to do with the new services next and how should they do this (adding entertainment and better passenger information services for example).

The conference, to be held in London on the 12th and 13th of June, will be dominated by real case studies presented by train operators who have launched WiFi on-board services. With more train companies than ever before getting involved in this large and growing sector, a bumper audience is expected.

Over two days, a combination of interactive workshops, panel sessions, presentations and networking sessions will explore the commercial and technical issues arising from the deployment of train WiFi around the world as well as other newer applications developed as wireless broadband on trains becomes a reality.
