Cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex and dangerous – and companies are finding it harder to ensure adequate protection against them. This is reflected in CeBIT 2012’s keynote theme of “Managing Trust”. Visitors to the show can find out how “Trust and Security in the Digital World” can be achieved in the exhibition’s Security World section – where gateProtect has a stand (
Hall 12, Stand C55). The German-based IT security provider will be showing solutions that meet growing demand in both large and midsized companies around the world.
Hamburg, Germany, February 17, 2012 – gateProtect responds to two key challenges: how to deal with the explosive growth in network data traffic, and how to fulfill increasing security requirements. Large enterprises in particular are finding that existing protection systems are reaching their limits, as they cannot keep pace with the increasing mobility of staff and the range of different mobile devices they use. Against this backdrop, gateProtect’s
GPZ-5000 Next-Generation Firewall Appliance is designed to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of throughput, flexibility and failsafe performance.
“Making ‘managing trust’ the keynote theme of this year’s CeBIT is only logical,” comments Dr. Peter Smeets, CEO of gateProtect. “Protection against cyber threats is becoming increasingly important and this is becoming a big challenge for companies. We’re receiving a lot more enquiries from large enterprises now and have responded by developing a larger model of the GPZ 2500 firewall range, called the GPZ 5000. This will be a focal point of our presence at this year’s CeBIT, and we’ll also be showing solutions for the midmarket as well as Version 9.1 of our next-generation firewall. With the eGUI graphical interface and the Command Center administration platform, we also provide the right tools to enable companies to ‘Manage Trust’, reflecting the CeBIT theme in a practical way. We’re looking forward to some interesting discussions with current and future customers as well as partners.”
Enhanced performance and integrated LAN accounting: overview of new features
The gateProtect GPZ 5000 appliance fulfills the performance, redundancy and scalability requirements of large enterprises and datacenters that have thousands of users. Thanks to its hardware RAID (hot-swap capability), redundant power supply and powerful High-Availability Mode, the appliance is 99.97 per cent failsafe. It supports up to 3.5 million simultaneous connections and uses an ASIC Crypto accelerator chip for very fast VPN connection performance, enabling throughput of 4 Gbit per second.
gateProtect will also be presenting version 9.1 of its Next-Generation UTM Firewall. This includes a new LAN accounting feature which is sure to be of interest to countries that do not yet have a high-performance internet infrastructure. It enables companies, schools and public authorities to better manage bandwidth utilization by setting limits for internet usage time and data transfer volumes.
The eGUI graphical user interface makes it easy and efficient to use the gateProtect Next-Generation Firewalls. The gateProtect Command Center, which is also very easy to use, gives users a comprehensive overview of the security situation in the corporate network and enables them to centralize the management of up to 500 firewall appliances.
