London, 11 April 2013 – Fujitsu UK&I has been awarded the Investors in People Gold Award in recognition of the way it develops, supports and motivates its employees. The company currently employs over 10,000 people in the UK and Ireland. Fujitsu was specifically praised for its commitment to nurturing potential in addition to its talent, apprenticeship and training initiatives that include a number of social media focused programmes.
The Gold award, awarded to less than 3% of organisations nationwide (fewer than 700 in total), celebrates those that perform beyond the core Investors in People Standard. The Standard provides a solid foundation for further growth and development and is awarded to organisations that can demonstrate they operate at the highest levels of people management practices, including learning and development, leadership skills, and recognition and reward of employees amongst others.
Ella Bennett, Human Resources director at Fujitsu UK&I, said: “In the fast moving technology market, our people are our greatest asset. We believe in investing in people – fostering talent and building skills is just one of the ways in which we ensure that our people are engaged and happy working at Fujitsu UK&I. We are very proud of this prestigious accreditation and the work that has gone into achieving it. We also look forward to building on this solid foundation it has set within our organisation.”
To secure the Gold award, an organisation must meet a total of 165 or more different standards, including 39 core accreditation standards.
John Telfer, managing director of Inspiring Business Performance Ltd (IBP), the organisation that delivers Investors in People for London and the South, said: “When evaluating Fujitsu UK&I we saw countless managers that were focused on spotting and fostering potential in their people. The company also has numerous talent, apprenticeship and training initiatives that encourage people to grow and develop. We were particularly impressed with initiatives such as the use of social media across the organisation which encourages all levels of employees to engage with management initiatives and provide input.”
“Being recognised as an Investor in People is becoming increasingly important, and the higher the level of accreditation, the better it reflects on your organisation to potential employees, investors and customers. Fujitsu UK&I should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
