Delivering rapid scalability and improved service levels to its customers
London – December 9th, 2010 – Attenda Limited, the Always On Managed Services company, today announced that the Food Standards Agency had completed the switch of its external hosting to Attenda RTI Cloud computing platform, to manage its business critical websites.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) runs its websites to provide advice and information to the public and stakeholders on food safety and hygiene. It also protects consumers through effective food enforcement and monitoring. As a non-ministerial Government department, independent regulator and consumer protection body, it uses the best available evidence and works with business from farm to fork to help them keep consumers safe. It also works with local authorities and other food law enforcement bodies to help them take proportionate, timely and resolute action and provides consumers with reliable and up to date information to help them make safe choices about food.
Under the contract, Attenda is providing a web hosting and managed services solution based upon the use of its Cloud computing platform, Attenda RTI. The solution will provide the FSA with the ability to rapidly scale its website infrastructure in response to changing demand and provide an automated disaster recovery capability, delivering improved service levels to its customers.
Commenting on the new contract, Jane Seymour, Head of Web and Editorial, says, “It is vital that we can deliver the same level of service to our users, even in times of sudden increased demand, for example a national food incident; so Attenda’s managed service provides us with the rapid scalability that we require to respond to peaks in traffic, without the need to invest in over capacity in our infrastructure.”
Attenda is also working with web development company, LBi, who have implemented the FSA’s web applications built upon Apache, Oracle and Google technologies, and are providing ongoing application support.
Simon Hansford, VP Service Strategy & Marketing, Attenda adds, “The FSA is setting the pace for the transformation of public service delivery, through the provision of improved, more efficient and highly available services, with reduced risk and lower total cost of ownership.”
