- Top 300 European Corporate Resellers grew 6% last year to generate combined revenues of €23 billion ($31bn)
- Overall sector revenues down 7% since 2006
(London – 4 November 2010) European Corporate Resellers have generally enjoyed a strong year and have begun to recover from the recessionary pressures that have gripped the sector over recent years. In 2009, the last full year for which accounts are available, revenues for the top 300 European Corporate Resellers, who between them employed 81,789 staff, increased by 6.23% to €22.97bn ($31.08bn). This fairly modest rate of growth actually represents quite a strong recovery from the decline in previous years which saw sector revenues fall 7.34% from the levels of 2006. These are amongst the findings from “Corporate Resellers in Europe – The Top 300”, the latest database report from IT Europa which is published today.
The database report, which provides detailed business profiles of each of the top 300 European Corporate Resellers, provides further evidence that it is “solutions” rather than hardware that is driving IT sales in Europe. In terms of individual countries, Finland recorded the highest revenue growth in this sector. Germany was the strongest of the major markets with the UK in 17th place at 6.07% growth. The region impacted most by the economic downturn in this sector was Eastern Europe with Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia and Latvia all recording revenue declines in excess of 25%. In terms of individual companies, Computacenter Plc. again topped the list followed by Specialist Computer Holdings Plc. with Atea ASA in third place.
Generally, it seems that the corporate reseller market has been struggling in the last few years, says IT Europa analyst Auri Aittokallio. “This is hardly surprising as companies and public sector organisations have been forced to cut back on IT spend. Public sector bodies across Europe have especially had to tighten belts and some in the UK have called on the government to continue to press suppliers for cheaper deals and extended payment times,” she says.
The “Corporate Resellers in Europe – The Top 300” database report spans 36 countries and represents the most detailed view available of this key market sector. It has been compiled from detailed interviews conducted by IT Europa’s own research team. The company profiles include sales breakdowns by company activity, which markets a company operates in, and detailed information on staff numbers and development plans, along with contact details for the top executives of each company. The report is available from IT Europa (
