Global broadband software company Emotum has today announced the launch of an innovative and contemporary mobile broadband connection manager designed especially for emerging and expanding mobile operators.

The new software has been developed to relieve the ‘pain points’ experienced by mobile internet service providers (ISPs) including low loyalty, increasing customer support outlays, high churn rates and costly start-up and licence fees. In addition it alleviates issues around exploding mobile data usage, update management of software and device firmware, testing and quality assurance, time to market for new releases, and includes native support for both Mac and Windows operating systems.

“Through our industry experience, user testing, market research and from listening to our customers; our specialist technology and design teams have identified the key issues plaguing mobile operators, device manufacturers and end users,” said Rob Butler, executive director of Emotum and a leading human technology interaction (HTI) expert. “We have then distilled this feedback into a complete mobile broadband solution that allows ISPs of all shapes and sizes to find something that suits their specific needs, growth and budget.”

Emotum has been developing connectivity software since 2003 with a global customer base in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. This latest solution combines a connection manager, a server management system and a customer service level agreement providing all the essential tools required to effectively manage a customer’s mobile and wireless broadband connections quickly and effectively. By introducing this software, cost-conscious operators can look to reduce customer support resources, lower churn rates and increase customer satisfaction.

“What our new product allows is for ISPs, on tight budgets or with plans to expand, to have the functionality needed to ensure unified customer connection quality of experience regardless of their device or connection type,” added Mr Butler.

Specifically designed for big screen mobile broadband typically deployed via USB modems, the Emotum solution is device agnostic – supporting all major hardware vendors – and network agnostic, working seamlessly on mobile (2G, EDGE, 3G, 4G) wireless and LAN. Additional features include a well-designed, simpler and easier to use interface for inexperienced consumers, inbuilt customer self-help and advanced diagnostics, mobile network data offload, silent software updates, firmware updates and an improved engagement with ISPs to deliver high quality service releases on time and budget.

There is a zero setup fee for this software, with flexible pricing options for any operator strategy – meaning no hefty initial outlay – and a predictable total cost of ownership model aimed at helping operators to generate income in a self-sustaining licencing system. Operators also receive tailored service support, which can vary dependent on the needs of each ISP. For example, some ISPs may manage much of the process in-house whilst others may require additional support from technical specialists in addition to face-to-face contact, project management, on-site testing, setup assistance and training.

Mr Butler concluded: “Our new connection manager product range and value proposition will allow us to enter new markets and provide software to anyone who needs it. We are very excited about bringing the Emotum experience to more end-users.”

Emotum’s connection management solutions can also be completely customised to meet an ISP’s specific focus or marketing strategy and used in conjunction with other Emotum customer care and marketing software products for service providers.

Free demonstrations of Emotum’s connection manager are available for interested operators. Please contact Emotum on +61 2 8005 0181 or [email protected] for details.
