Aimed at Transforming the Software Management Experience and Insight
Maidenhead, United Kingdom – January 24, 2012— Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development; and Logica, a £4 billion Europe-based business and technology service company, announced a sales and marketing partnership focused on
AppWave, a free enterprise app store. Embarcadero’s AppWave was crowned the 2011 winner of Logica’s prestigious
Global Innovation Venture Partner Programme (GIVP).
AppWave offers business users self-service discovery and one-click access to Windows applications much like popular mobile app stores. AppWave also empowers enterprises to make fact based decisions on software spending through in-depth real-time usage reporting. AppWave gives users instant access to more than 250 free PC productivity apps such as OpenOffice, Adobe® Acrobat Reader, 7Zip, FileZilla, and more.
“When we first saw AppWave, we knew that this was something that we needed to take to our clients. It is totally game changing for existing software,” said Danny Wootton, Innovation Director for Logica UK. “Reporting within the AppWave solution gives management visibility that they haven't had before on who’s using apps, what versions of apps are used and what’s going on in real-time. This is a real benefit to management.”
“There is real synergy between Embarcadero and Logica in the app ecosystem. Logica recognises the potential that AppWave has to change traditional application delivery models for companies and users,” said Michael Swindell, vice president of marketing and products at Embarcadero. “AppWave helps companies meet the increasing demand for consumer-like technology experiences at work with the benefit of diminishing software waste by allowing companies to fully understand and leverage their existing software investments,” Swindell said.
The partnership between Embarcadero and Logica will focus on a go-to-market strategy that touches key markets and clients. Embarcadero will also have access to the Logica client organisations worldwide. AppWave is currently deployed in Logica’s Spark Innovation Centres in the UK, US, Sweden and the Netherland and there are more deployments in the offing. Clients and visitors can see innovative solutions at these Spark Innovation Centres, which provide a focused environment for people to ideate and find innovative solutions to today's business problems, and gain valuable insight into the technologies of the future.
GBS Bindra, Global Innovation Director of Logica said “When we were looking to find our global partner as part of the GIVP Programme, Embarcadero presented an excellent innovative solution which was hard to be ignored.
