Aldershot, 02 December 2011 - Users of
Current Cost home energy monitoring technologies can now view their home energy data alongside other real-time data feeds, thanks to a new commercial partnership between Current Cost, the leading global manufacturer of home energy monitors, and Pachube, a real-time data infrastructure platform for the Internet of Things.
Current Cost has teamed up with the Pachube service with the aim of providing even greater online freedom for tech-savvy users of its practical home energy monitoring devices.
Internet users can already use the free, easy-to-use Current Cost web portal service
my.currentcost.com to keep up-to-date with detailed energy usage information. The
Pachube service will also bring additional functionality for Current Cost “Netsmart” users who want to trigger external web services, utilise Pachube’s SMS alert functions and use the energy data with third-party applications. It could even be possible to automatically tweet data from the home energy monitor using the Pachube service.
“We’re trying to make it easier for device makers of all shapes and sizes to integrate with Pachube and give their users control over their own data,” says Usman Haque, founder of Pachube. “Our vision for the Internet of Things is that it should be as simple, open and great as the Internet itself.”
“The ability to offer customers total flexibility with their data has always been a key focus for Current Cost,” says Current Cost managing director, Martin Dix. “We hope that our web portal services will continue to help empower our online users to cut energy wastage, reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.”
