6th December 2012 - Ascribe is pleased to announce the sale of its market leading Emergency Care clinical IT solution to County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (“County Durham & Darlington”). The solution will be initially installed in the Acute Emergency Departments at Durham University Hospital and Darlington Memorial Hospital, and will provide a single interface for clinically managing patients across the Trust. Using the latest integration technology in clinical information systems from Ascribe, their Health Application Platform, Ascribe’s Emergency Care solution (Symphony) will integrate with the Trust’s existing Ascribe clinical systems, including the Ascribe CaMIS EPR. The solution will also enable County Durham & Darlington to go paperless across their Emergency Care departments.
A second phase to deliver Ascribe Unscheduled Care solution across all Urgent Care settings is also available. Ascribe’s Emergency Care solution is locally configurable and allows real-time workflow monitoring against national standards. It provides clinicians with a visually rich interface that tracks patients from their point of admission through to discharge. Whilst capable of drawing upon clinical and administrative patient data from multiple sources, including the Summary Care Record, the solution captures all clinical aspects of the Patient Journey and automates the generation of clinical reports, freeing clinicians to focus on providing care.
In addition to the standard configuration, County Durham and Darlington have requested that Ascribe’s Emergency Care solution should automatically generate detailed clinical discharge messages for all attendances, these notes are to be sent to all appropriate clinicians.
The Ascribe ED system to be implemented at County Durham & Darlington includes patient triage and tracking, clinical orders, bed management, multidisciplinary progress notes and clinical documentation and a Business Intelligence data reporting solution designed by Ascribe’s Consultancy team. It will deliver a fully electronic workflow for medical, nursing, allied health and administrative staff within the project budget and timeline.
Andrew Izon, Associate Director of Health Informatics at the Trust commented “Ascribe’s Emergency Care system will ultimately replace three legacy clinical systems across all of our Acute Emergency Care Centres and Unscheduled Care Admissions Units. It will provide a single registration process and a shared clinical emergency care database at County Durham & Darlington for the first time. This joined-up approach fits with the Trust’s strategic goals; it will benefit our patients and provide our clinicians with a market leading and functionally rich IT system; helping to reduce some of their administrative workload and allowing more time to be spent with patients.”
Stephen Critchlow, CEO of Ascribe, commented “I am delighted that County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust have selected Ascribe’s Emergency Care and Consultancy solutions. We are committed to improving patient safety by ensuring clinicians have access to a complete health record for each patient as they diagnose and recommend care pathways. This order marks the next phase in our strategic relationship with County Durham and Darlington.”
