Hamburg, Germany, March 7th, 2013 – Enterprise cloud synchronization provider, TeamDrive has announced an upgrade to its solution that allows secure folder based synchronization between its Hybrid Cloud platforms, smartphone and tablet users while enforcing strong encryption and security policy control.
The new off-line secure sync and share solution has been tested by several beta customers including MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang GmbH & Co. KG, a pioneer and global leader in electronic brake testing technology with subsidiaries and dealers in more than 150 countries. Roy Lazonby, CIO of MAHA explains, “We have some highly confidential content and TeamDrive was the only app we found that offered end-to-end encryption. With this new and improved TeamDrive app the productivity of our users has been significantly increased. The new offline capability is essential for our sales and support teams who are constantly on-site with customers and often without wireless or 3G coverage.”
“Today's workplace has expanded far beyond the borders of the office walls as more and more businesses encourage the use of smartphones and tablets,” explains Volker Oboda, co-founder and CEO of TeamDrive. ”TeamDrive has built a powerful secure mobile platform designed to meet the demands of this increasingly mobile workforce by making it easier to secure access, share and collaborate on all of your content, wherever you are and our new features extend this flexibility to users that are away from the network.”
Oboda points out that many users still need access to critical files when there is no Wi-Fi or mobile data network, for example on a train or airplane. To solve this issue, TeamDrive has developed an extension to both its iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android apps to specify entire workspaces and folders as available for secure offline access. As soon as the offline device reconnects to the Internet, data is automatically synchronized and the latest versions of files are downloaded to the device.
To ensure data security, all files within the offline mode are still protected by an AES-256 algorithm with a separate symmetric AES-256 key produced for each folder. This encryption is enforced for files stored on TeamDrive Enterprise Servers, TeamDrive-based Clouds and mobile devices accessing any TeamDrive enabled environment. “The ability to secure every part of the file sharing and collaboration process is a key advantage that TeamDrive has over rivals such as Dropbox,” Oboda adds.
The new offline mode is available in the Personal and Professional TeamDrive versions offering similar features to Dropbox, but with enhanced security. For enterprises, TeamDrive provides next-generation simplicity, security and cross-platform communication and collaboration technology. The TeamDrive Hybrid Cloud consists of the best attributes of enterprise private storage combined with a cloud platform that scales data access to millions of users whether they are in the office or on the go.
