(London – 17 April 2009) BPL Broadcast Limited today announced the launch of a new web-site – www.digitalsignagescene.com – dedicated to supporting the needs of the fast expanding digital signage community. The new site will provide news and analysis on the digital signage industry, including information on forthcoming events. It will be supported by and reinforce a new bi-weekly electronic newsletter – “Digital Signage in Focus”. The new site will also support and provide information about the Digital Signage Zone at IBC2009 – a new visitor attraction at IBC, the broadcast industry’s leading international conference and exhibition.

www.digitalsignagescene.com will focus on the technologies, solutions and content driving the dramatic growth in the deployment of digital signage in a variety of commercial environments such as retail, public arenas, sports stadia and transport concourses. A recent report by MultiMedia Intelligence predicts that the digital signage market will more than double in size by 2012 to consume 2.3 million displays, having grown by 34% from 2007 to 2008 to 1.1 million displays.

News content for the web-site will be controlled by Miya Knights, editor of Retail Technology Magazine and the Digital Signage in Focus electronic newsletter. The site will also be supported by other broadcast and technology titles within the BPL stable including IBE, C2M and Comms Dealer. A specific section of the site will be dedicated to supporting the Digital Signage Zone at IBC2009 which will bring together many of the organisations and technologies that are emerging as major forces in this new medium at the heart of the broadcast industry's leading international conference and exhibition.

Commenting on the launch of the new web-site, Chris Boeree, Chairman, BPL, said: “Digital Signage is emerging as a major new marketing and communication medium and an important new delivery mechanism for broadcast content. The Digital Signage Scene web-site and electronic newsletter will draw upon BPL’s strengths in the convergence of the IT, Telecoms and Broadcast technologies which underpin digital signage. We will also be leveraging our strengths, in such key areas for deployment as the retail sector, to provide a one-stop information source to meet the evolving needs of the digital signage community.”

The Digital Signage Zone at IBC2009 is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IBC2009 exhibition takes place from 11-15 September 2009 at the RAI, Amsterdam. IBC attracts more than 49,000 visitors and 1,400 exhibitors from 130 countries.
