Increased levels of user and network protection with lower total cost of ownership, simplified on-going management and reduced risk and liability delivered by real-time Web filtering
Bloxx, the innovator in Web and Email content filtering, today announced that Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a major healthcare provider in eastern England, is using Bloxx Web filtering to monitor and report on the Web browsing activity for the Trust’s 3,000 staff.
“We directly compared our existing Internet content filtering solution from Websense with the Bloxx appliances based on our functionality requirements and price. We concluded that the Bloxx solution provided all the flexibility, functionality, capabilities and high levels of user protection we were looking for to more easily manage Internet access at a significantly lower price. Recently the Trust expanded its use of Bloxx Web filtering to deliver protection at the new state-of-the-art Peterborough City Hospital,” said Nik Ramsden, IT Infrastructure Development Manager at Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust has introduced policies for specific types of users and is finding its Bloxx Web Filter easily handles those needing to search for particular medical terms, conditions or parts of the body that would typically be blocked by legacy Web filters. The Trust use the Web Reporting application regularly to provide high level reports for key staff that deliver a quick proactive overview of the Trust’s browsing activity. Further investigations can easily take place using the drill down option where more detailed information can be analysed.
Ramsden adds, “The installation process first time round was straightforward. With the deployment of two new appliances in July this year, it was even easier. We worked directly with Bloxx and were able to install all the appliances ourselves including the 1250Ws in a resilient configuration with just telephone support. That meant we could work the installation around our workloads and staff availability. We found that integration with our network was much simpler when compared to our previous server-based solution and the support of LDAP enabled us to tightly integrate our network directory structures. It was simple, easy and it worked straight out of the box, and on-going management is made so much easier with the user friendly administration console.”
“Bloxx’s no nonsense attitude to pricing, lower total cost of ownership and easy management of its Web filtering appliances was a very attractive proposition for the Trust. On the rare occasion that we have had an issue with the Bloxx appliances, we have found their UK based support service to be very responsive and efficient. Now the Trust can deliver the much needed high levels of user and network protection that reduces our risk and liability. All thanks to our Bloxx Web Filter,” concludes Ramsden.
