Binary Research (UK) Ltd Announces New Version of the Universal Imaging Utility Including 64-Bit Windows 7 Support
UIU Now Provides Full Support for Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit), Windows XP, Windows Vista and Apple Macintosh Intel Hardware
Binary Research (UK) Ltd, part of the company that originally developed Symantec’s Ghost, announced today the availability of Big Bang’s Universal Imaging Utility (UIU) version 4.6, which includes full support for 64-bit Windows 7, as well as continuing to support 32-bit Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Intel-based Apple Macintosh's. The vanguard software application enables error-free deployment to every desktop, laptop and tablet PC in the business environment.
UIU, the leading product in the hardware-independent imaging space, works alongside a user’s existing cloning software (Microsoft Deployment toolkit, Symantec Ghost, Altiris, Acronis, ZENworks, et al) to create a single hardware-independent master Image of a Windows computer. This single Image can then be deployed across disparate hardware platforms, easing system deployment, maintenance, upgrades, rollouts and migrations, as well as disaster recovery efforts.
Other new features of UIU version 4.6 include:
- Driver database preparation optimised for 64-bit Windows 7
- Extensive driver additions to accommodate business-class hardware on which Windows 7 may be run
- Enhanced sysprep handling for 64-bit Windows 7
- UIU Discovery Tool support for 64-bit Windows 7
- UIU AutoPilot feature to allow Users to standardise and expedite master Image creation
Licensing and Pricing
Licensing for the UIU is per-seat, based on the number of computers that receive an Image prepared with the UIU, and it is perpetual, meaning a licensed computer can be re-imaged without requiring an additional license. Pricing starts at $20.14 (£14) per-seat for 100 computers and drops to $9.12 (£6) for 5,000 or more licenses. For more information about the UIU or for a free trial download, visit
