London, UK and Dallas, TX – 26 March 2013 – Telligent, a leading provider of social community software, has been chosen by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) to build their online community for grant holders, partners and voluntary organisations.
BIG is responsible for distributing 40% of funds raised by the National Lottery to good causes across the UK.
Claudio Concha, Head of Digital Media at Big Lottery Fund, said: “Our new online community will offer help and support for applicants and grantees - providing them with a platform for promotion and discussion of the practical aspects of their projects.”
“It will also allow them to network with other projects undertaking related work, develop good practice and explore wider sectoral issues.”
Working with Telligent’s partners, Sitecore and Reading Room, BIG plans to build a community that serves as an online hub where organisations can come together to share their knowledge and experiences and ask advice of BIG staff. The community’s added integration with Sitecore will enhance the Big Lottery Fund’s website with social engagement.
Goals of the community include:
- Making BIG’s digital engagement and social media activity more coordinated
- Enhancing knowledge sharing around the application process, project delivery, evaluation and sectoral knowledge
- Facilitating the creation of links between organisations and projects
- Building a body of user generated content to benefit future applicants
- Sharing, openly and transparently, who, what and how BIG funds
- Enhancing BIG’s processes and improvement in the quality of applications
“The Big Lottery Fund is a model for organisations looking to make a big difference in their communities,” said Steve Poncini, General Manager of International Business at Telligent. “BIG’s social engagement strategy is a testament to how online communities can be used to enrich the physical communities in which we live.”
