Avere Systems, a leading provider of enterprise storage for cloud enabled data centers, today announced that it has been included in Gartner Inc.’s report, "Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies, 2014."[1]
The report revisits Avere as a past cool vendor in the “Where Are They Now?” section. Avere was included in Gartner Inc.’s “Cool Vendors in Storage Technologies, 2010.” Avere Systems and EMC Isilon are revisited in the 2014 report.
“The company’s growth and momentum is a result of our continued focus on developing disruptive storage solutions to address a changing market. With the recent release of Avere FlashCloud and our benchmark testing with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), we have demonstrated that the economics of cloud storage can now be tapped by the enterprise without sacrificing application performance or data security,” said Rebecca Thompson, vice president of marketing, Avere Systems. “We're excited that Gartner has recognized Avere.”
Avere FlashCloud on FXT Series Edge filers integrates public and private object storage with legacy NAS into a global namespace (GNS) and provides scalable performance for users everywhere via familiar NAS protocols. GNS provides enterprises the flexibility to store their data wherever it makes the most sense and to adopt object storage at a comfortable pace. FXT Edge filers provide enterprise-class functionality, including NFS and SMB/CIFS protocols, scalable performance and high-availability to support any applications running on NAS. Together, FXT Edge filers and object storage provide optimized performance and capacity scaling and enable 70 percent or more savings in total cost of ownership (TCO).
