In its most recent Connect America Fund Report released on November 18, 2011, the FCC states that “American Roamer data is recognized as the industry standard for the presence of service” and for the specific purpose of this report, the company provides “the best available choice at this time for determining wireless service at the census-block level” (FCC Report 11-161, page 121, sections 333 and 334).
The Connect American Fund aims “to bring broadband to unserved areas; support advanced mobile voice and broadband networks in rural, insular and high-cost areas; expand fixed broadband and facilitate reform of the intercarrier compensation system” (FCC Report 11-161, page 46, section 115). The report, which discusses the importance of nationwide availability of wireless and broadband networks, uses American Roamer’s wireless coverage data to identify both served and underserved areas. The FCC also cites American Roamer as the preferred source for such information over the National Broadband Map, created as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and with data previously submitted to the Commission on FCC Form 477.
“American Roamer has worked hard throughout our history to be recognized by both the wireless operator community and the FCC as the unbiased and preferred source for global geospatial network intelligence solutions,” said Bryan Darr, CEO of American Roamer. “I founded American Roamer with the vision to provide operators, and by extension their customers, with network coverage information needed to more fully utilize wireless services. This information makes our clients’ wireless service more valuable while also managing customer expectations, reducing both customer dissatisfaction and churn. Today, we have extended our reach to include operators, retailers and suppliers of cable, wireless and telecom services to help grow their customer base, stay ahead of their competition, and make sound business decisions.”
American Roamer’s wireless coverage catalog can be licensed in GIS file formats with CoverageRight™, through its interactive mapping solutions including CellMaps® and MapELEMENTS(SM), and via a range of APIs (application programming interface).
