Aepona to Serve as Platform and Managed Services Provider
Barcelona, Spain – 25 February, 2013 – Aepona today announced that it will launch an OpenAPI initiative with U.S. Cellular. The platform is designed to enable U.S. Cellular’s developers to enrich their applications with valuable mobile network capabilities and intelligence. With this initiative, U.S. Cellular will make its core network and billing assets available to qualified developers as easy-to-consume, cloud-based APIs.
U.S. Cellular selected Aepona to provide both the software platform and managed services that underpin the OpenAPI initiative. Aepona will deploy its award-winning API Monetization Platform (AMP) in a hosted environment and manage the operational aspects of the service. Previously, Aepona has worked with U.S. Cellular in managing its Direct-to-Bill payments offering for off-deck (third party) and on-deck mobile content.
“Businesses are facing significant challenges today as workforces become increasingly mobile”, said Will Yapp, Aepona’s SVP of Sales, Americas. “Trends such as bring-your-own-device are making it increasingly difficult to roll out and manage mobile applications consistently across enterprises. By providing mobile network capabilities like communications and context as cloud-based APIs, U.S. Cellular can help developers embed rich mobile functionality into a range of business and B2C applications in a device-agnostic manner. That will help businesses increase productivity, reduce costs, improve customer service and grow revenues.”
