Secure Application Access Gateway now supports Wyse and HP Linux thin clients

ASCOT, UK (July 07, 2011) – AEP Networks, the provider of trusted security, has enhanced its Secure Application Access Gateway in response to business demand for reduced desktop costs and improved end user experience. Many organisations that are being forced to move away from legacy platforms like Microsoft Windows XP as it approaches end of life are deciding to deploy thin client technology rather than paying for costly licence upgrades for Windows 7. AEP Networks’ Secure Application Access Gateway now supports Wyse and HP Linux based thin clients, bringing the most secure application access to the thin terminal market, whilst at the same time enabling businesses to make significant cost savings.

Customers who have deployed thin clients in conjunction with AEP Networks’ Secure Application Access Gateway have seen a reduction in operation costs of up to 60 per cent in addition to other cost savings resulting from fewer licences needing to be purchased, retention of older hardware which would have had to have been swapped out with an operating system upgrade, smaller bandwidth requirements and lower power consumption. End users are also benefiting from application response times that are up to six times faster. 

AEP Networks’ Secure Application Access Gateway is an endpoint independent browser-based application portal providing secure access to any application from any network. It can be integrated with AEP Networks’ Key Security and Management, Hardware Security Module (HSM), which significantly enhances the security and integrity of the cryptographic key system used to protect application access. Businesses using Wyse and Linux based thin clients from HP can now provide their employees with the highest level of security while giving them flexible access to corporate applications.

Secure Application Access Gateway uses endpoint fingerprinting technology to check each device and employee for full compliance with company security software policy during connection requests. This means that organisations no longer need to pre-approve tens of thousands of devices. Any device or employee falling outside of the organisation’s security policy will only have limited access to corporate resources. Once a session is terminated by a user logging out or as a result of a timed out session, all cache data is deleted so no sensitive information remains on public computers. Centralised control of data also means that data will not be lost if devices are lost or stolen.

Businesses using the Secure Application Access Gateway to secure thin clients can purchase it through the AEP Networks’ LANProtect licensing model which is designed for organisations that have a fixed number of named users requiring application access.

The Secure Application Access Gateway supports a fully heterogeneous environment allowing users to access their critical applications from a wide variety of endpoints including PCs, thin clients, iPads or Android devices regardless of what their backend infrastructure is running. AEP Networks will be further enhancing its HSM in September 2011 by adding support for 224 bits, 256 bits, 382 bits and 512 bits Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) p curves.
