155  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Collibra Awarded Fastest-Growing Software Company by Deloitte on: November 21, 2016, 06:37:25 PM
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM - November 21st, 2016 – Collibra, a leader in data governance software solutions for business users, has announced it has won the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award in the “Best Software” category. The award confirms Collibra as one of Europe’s fastest growing technology companies.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award honours companies headquartered in Belgium that have experienced substantial revenue growth over the last four years. For Collibra, its rapid growth has been driven by its consumerized approach to data governance. The company enables business users to “shop” for and find data in much the same way they shop for products in their everyday lives on consumer sites like Amazon.

On receiving the award at a ceremony in Brussels, Collibra co-founder and CEO, Felix Van de Maele, said, “Being recognized as the fastest-growing software firm in Belgium is a true accolade for our business and I am extremely grateful to both our employees and partners. The Deloitte Fast 50 is widely recognised in the tech-sector, and it is exciting to see all the exceptional businesses that are listed alongside. For us, it is a fantastic endorsement of all our hard work, and is a recognition of the rising numbers organisations adopting our data governance solution.”

Founded in 2008, Collibra has seen huge demand for its collaborative technology that easily overcomes the challenges many corporates face when they find data in multiple places, on multiple platforms and in multiple formats. In addition to its Brussels headquarters, the company expanded its global operations to include a New York office in 2014 to accommodate a workforce of 200 employees split across both geographies. Collibra now has more than 150 large company customers across finance, healthcare and retail sectors, and has seen a 1610% revenue growth over the past four fiscal years.

Van de Maele concludes: “Data governance has become an important priority for businesses of any sizes, particularly in the light of the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It has been fantastic to see Collibra experience significant growth over a relatively short period of time. This is an incentive for us to keep on doing our very best in helping more businesses drive forward their data-first strategies.”
156  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Datum Farnborough data centre proves its secure credentials on: November 21, 2016, 05:13:24 PM
Farnborough – 21 November 2016 – Datum Datacentres today announced that a further global security-conscious client has joined the broad community of organisations who have selected the Farnborough facility to house their critical IT infrastructure.

From public safety and security to international insurance, financial services, global cyber security, online payments, defence and engineering, Datum’s client base evidences its secure credentials. When Datum launched in 2012 to provide a robust co-location service for business critical IT, the selection of a government–grade secure park site coupled with Datum’s rigorous management and client-centric approach gave the complete offering a particular appeal to organisations who value confidentiality and safety. Nearly four years on, the first two halls of the data centre are dominated by large dedicated client cages to which the addition of the new City-based client gives further credence to Datum’s claim to be the data centre of choice for sensitive business critical IT.

Dominic Phillips, Datum Managing Director, reinforces this point: “Datum clients are frequently characterised by a zero tolerance approach to security risks. We take their concerns with the seriousness that they demand, referring to them even internally by their code names. The nature of their operations requires a data centre that is not only extremely secure and highly resilient but is also appropriately managed to avoid the risk of breaches and downtime. Each new client that selects our service reinforces and reaffirms the strength of the Datum offering and we are delighted to welcome the latest global name to our facility.”

Secucloud doubles size of workforce in just one year and moves into new HQ in Hamburg

Cloud-based security specialist continues to drive strong growth

Hamburg, Germany. 21 November 2016 – The German IT security specialist Secucloud is achieving significant growth with its cloud-based security solution for telcos. Over the last year, the company has won a large number of new customers, including renowned international providers like T-Mobile Netherlands. It has also recruited two experienced industry specialists to its management team: Renzo Pecoraro, a former executive director of Morgan Stanley, and the former E-POST CEO Mark Rees. In addition, Secucloud has almost doubled its workforce this year alone, so that its existing offices became too small for it. For this reason, Secucloud is moving into its new and significantly larger headquarters in the centre of Hamburg on 1st December.

“We’ve had an absolutely fantastic year in 2016,” says Dennis Monner, CEO of Secucloud. “We’ve almost doubled the number of employees since January, which will bring us up to 62 staff by the end of December. Our existing office facilities were quite simply far too small, making it essential for us to move. With our new HQ right in the centre of Hamburg, our customers and partners can find us at one of the city’s best addresses. Instead of the 700 square metres in our old office, we now have almost 1600 square metres at our disposal and are well equipped for further growth. Expansion is on the cards next year too – we’re currently planning to have more than 85 staff by the end of 2017.”

Efficient security in the cloud

Secucloud specialises in providing security for the internet of things. It offers a comprehensive, completely cloud-based enterprise-class security system for telcos and mobile phone operators that they can install directly into their network infrastructure. This enables them to protect their customers from all cyber-threats on the internet in a centralised way. Customers do not need to install any software on their devices, so no setup or maintenance is required. The Secucloud solution scales elastically and can protect up to 100 million users effectively and in real time.

158  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Research reveals lower cost of Instant Payments implementation... on: November 21, 2016, 04:57:14 PM
• Average five year cumulative costs for small and medium-sized banks as low as €500,000
• By year five, maintenance fees can make up over 50% of total costs
• Modular, highly configurable systems remove barriers to entry and lowers costs

London, UK, 21st November 2016 – A new study by Lipis Advisors, experts in real-time payments, has found that the cost of migrating to Instant Payments infrastructure for small and medium sized banks is far lower and more controllable than previously thought. This revelation suggests that smaller banks are actually better positioned to respond to regulatory and consumer pressures for Instant Payments, and that real time banking doesn’t need to be the preserve of large, well-funded banks.

The research provides the first insights into the real world experiences, costs and challenges of global banks and processors when implementing Instant Payment solutions and shatters some of the myths surrounding Instant Payment implementations across the globe. With banks struggling to make a business case for the transition to Instant Payments according to the research, the study provides a case for change.

The research, “Implementing Instant Payments: Insights from Early Adopters”, reveals that choice of vendor is critical, with smaller banks relying far more upon their solutions provider for their specific expertise and guidance. Larger more established providers typically charged smaller banks around 20% per annum of implementation costs in annual maintenance fees.

Surprisingly, testing and integration costs were reported to make up 60% of the initial cost of implementation. Hardware, software licencing costs and transaction volumes were not sizeable contributors to cumulative costs over a five-year period. This suggests smaller banks may be missing out on the commercial opportunities that Instant Payments provide because of fears around these costs. Instead maintenance fees, comprising of software updates, ongoing license fees and regular enhancements, were found to be the biggest expense over the period.

Even when this is taken into account, the five-year cumulative cost for the largest projects were reported to be less than €5m on average. By using modular solutions, where individual elements are combined with a core system in a targeted approach to focus specifically on Instant Payments, the cumulative cost over five years could drop as low as €500,000.

“Through discussion with executives we found that using a targeted approach to implement Instant Payments capabilities is the most efficient strategy. This enables banks to optimise existing IT resources, protect legacy investment, lower cost and cope with fast changing internal and external requirements. Investment in testing for example, currently a remarkable 25% of the initial cost, provides a real opportunity for savings,” said Dr. Leo Lipis, founder of Lipis Advisors. “Instant Payments has been seen as the domain of large multinational banks with the resources to implement complicated, cumbersome systems. This research clearly shows that this isn’t the reality. By using a solution from an experienced vendor with genuine payments expertise, small and medium sized banks can rapidly take advantage of the benefits that Instant Payments offers.”

Key Findings
• Cumulative project costs over five years can be as low as €500,000
• Maintenance fees are on average 20% of the initial solution’s cost per year
• Transaction volumes are not the biggest driver of implementation costs
• Integration and testing require the largest investment
• Implementation costs are split between:
o 40% on hardware and software licensing costs
o 35% on system integration, configuration and customisation
     o 25% for system testing

“Prior to this study small and medium sized banks looking to transition to Instant Payments had no way of understanding what this involved. The findings show that, contrary to received wisdom, Instant Payments is a feasible proposition for everyone and does not require endless budgets and massive headcount. Building a compelling business case has been a major barrier to deployment thus far. This research will help banks understand the approaches, challenges and complexities to aid strategic planning,” said Tom Hay, Head of Payments at Icon Solutions. “Instant Payments is here to stay and it’s only through enabling small and medium sized banks to connect to national schemes that consumers and businesses across the world will be able to take full advantage of its benefits.”

The research, conducted by Lipis Advisors in June and July 2016, was commissioned by Icon Solutions, the independent IT payment consultancy and specialist technology provider, is based on 15 interviews with senior representatives from banks, processors and vendors as well as six case studies from banks that have made the move to Instant Payments.

Real life is not enough: New Purple survey reveals how majority of people are online when out in bars and restaurants

November 21, 2016: Intelligent spaces company Purple surveyed over 1,000 people about how they use WiFi in bars and restaurants. The results show that, for the majority, using WiFi is an essential part of their social experiences. If it’s available, over half (55%) say they sometimes use it, while 4 in 10 always log in.

So why are we going online when we’re out for drinks and food? Purple’s survey reveals all:

Top 7 Reasons for Going Online at a Bar or Restaurant

1.Fear of being out of the loop
Purple’s survey indicates a need by many to keep tabs on what’s happening online, even when out socialising. Eight in ten (84%) use WiFi in bars and restaurants to browse the Internet, over half (58%) use it to keep in touch with friends, and 44% use it to stay in contact with family.

2.Checking reviews & deals

Just under a quarter of people login to WiFi while they are out so that they can check online reviews, and three out of ten search for food and drink promotions. Bars and restaurants that have an outstanding online reputation and enticing deals for the connected customer stand to benefit.

3.Doing out-of-hours work
Purple’s survey shows that WiFi is enabling bad work habits, with over a quarter (28%) using the WiFi in bars and restaurants to do work. Men age 18-34 are the worst offenders – with four out of ten logging on for work purposes while they are out. Step away from the smartphone guys!

4.Checking in on social media

Nearly two thirds (65%) ‘check in’ on social media when they arrive at a bar – this figure is highest among the millennials age group, rising to almost three quarters (72%).

5.Instagramming food

For many, #instafood comes before actual food – 57% admit they sometimes post a photo of an amazing meal at a restaurant on social media before they eat it, and 13% always succumb to that habit. Women aged 18-34 are the worst culprits – 7 out of 10 of them sometimes do this.

6.Posting selfies

Selfie posting at bars and restaurants is par for the course for six out of ten (61%) people! It’s especially popular among millennial girls, with three quarters of them (76%) posting selfies. The ‘bathroom selfie’ phenomenon is catching on – over a third (36%) say that they take them. Among millennial women, it’s even more popular – half of them snap pics of themselves in the loos! (Don’t expect a selfie to be truthful though, the camera CAN lie! Four out of ten people only post a selfie if they look good in it, and half (50%) say the pictures they share are staged to some degree).

7.Capturing the moment
Two thirds (65%) say that they share photos on social media while on a night out so that they can tag the people they are out with and enjoy the pictures together. For a quarter of respondents, the motive is less warm and fuzzy – they post pictures ‘to show off’!

Other Findings…
Hooking up – we’re just not that into it
Despite the publicity around apps like Tinder, Purple’s survey reveals a surprising lack of interest in using WiFi to hook up with others for a date. Over three quarters (76%) of respondents say they don’t use dating apps and, among those who do, only 9% would like to make their relationship status known.

Smartphone etiquette is a work in progress
Nearly a third of respondents (29%) say their smartphone use while out at a restaurant or bar has been criticised. Among respondents aged 18-34 this figure is even higher – at 44%.

Some are taking steps to get the balance right by having a smartphone ban at the table at restaurants. Four out of ten (43%) say they sometimes enforce this rule – and 14% always do. One in ten (11%) think that the rule is a good idea and plan to give it a try.

We’re not saying ‘no’ to sharing location
The Purple survey revealed a willingness by bar and restaurant goers to share some information about themselves in return for rewards. For instance, six out of ten (58%) people would be willing to share their precise location with a venue if it meant they could receive personalised offers. People aged 35-44 are most open to this, with 63% in this age group willing to share location data.

Eat, drink and be online

As ‘staying connected’ becomes more ingrained in our social lives, expectations are maturing. Purple’s CEO Gavin Wheeldon says, “Our survey shows we are getting wise to the perks – searching for reviews and deals to maximise the enjoyment of our free time; being able to control our self-image by only posting nice selfies; and staying in touch with friends and family while we’re out. We’re also clued up on the pitfalls – and proactive about finding ways to stop smartphones spoiling our real life fun.

“It’s clear that being able to use guest WiFi in bars and restaurants is in demand and, in the case of the millennial generation, a vital part going out. For the most part, the effects are positive, creating a rich social experience that includes friends and family at home.”
161  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / HUBER+SUHNER debuts five port SENCITY® Rail MIMO antenna on: November 21, 2016, 04:21:48 PM
Herisau, Switzerland. 21 November, 2016: HUBER+SUHNER, leading international manufacturer of components and systems for optical and electrical connectivity products, is extending its proven portfolio of roof-top antennas with the new five port SENCITY® Rail MIMO. Accompanying its established SENCITY® Rail antenna portfolio, the new robust five port MIMO roof-top antenna enables system integrators and rail vehicle manufacturers to upgrade their vehicles to 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi MIMO with minimal installation effort required.

The platform provides five antenna elements in one housing. The new product features two antenna elements to connect to a cellular 2x2 MIMO modem and two additional Wi-Fi antenna elements. This allows the direct connection to a Wi-Fi radio without using an RF diplexer to split the 2 different signals from a broadband antenna. It also saves the cost of the diplexer and the installation of it.

“The five ports allow system integrators to upgrade vehicles to MIMO technology even more efficiently and easily than before,” said Bernd Heidtmann, Product Manager RF at HUBER+SUHNER. “Our customers who have already installed the proven SENCITY® Rail antenna have seen the benefits of such an intelligent solution and so we are excited to be able to offer an upgraded product.”

This omni-directional antenna works on non-metallic surfaces. It supports the frequency range from 698 MHz to 6 GHz for all mobile communication networks worldwide.

“The product is particularly interesting for system integrators and rail vehicle manufacturers who are seeking to establish high-data-rate applications, such as on-board internet, CCTV or repeater systems in the train,” added Heidtmann. “Thanks to the new SENCITY® Rail MIMO, they can achieve a far higher data rate compared to standard antennas.”

The rugged design of the SENCITY® Rail MIMO antenna ensures it is fire retardant, meeting the railway standards for environmental requirements. The antenna RF ports are protected against high voltage and high current impacts, so if a broken catenary line destroys the antenna, a high voltage is connected to the radiator which will in turn short-cut the current to the ground.

All antennas can be purchased as kits with RF cable assemblies from HUBER+SUHNER. HUBER+SUHNER application engineers are on hand to help customers worldwide select the right product and position the antenna, thus ensuring successful deployment of the products.

Next-generation Wide Area Networking removes barriers and empowers organisations to implement seamless transitions to the Cloud

London, UK – 18 November 2016 - Exponential-e, the British cloud and network provider, has unveiled its new SD-WAN offering to help organisations stay in control of their IT operations and drive performance.

Offered through Cloudnet, Exponential-e’s self-service platform connects enterprises to business applications from wherever they are enabling organisations to utilise SD-WAN to separate the data and control layer into two parts. This allows businesses to centrally assign and manage application-aware policies across sites to secure and control all network traffic. Organisations will also be able to turn bandwidth up – and down – in real time with no time delays.

“In today’s digital world where business agility is critical, businesses can no longer afford to continue operating with WAN deployments that are isolated from the Cloud,” said Chris Christou, director of engineering at Exponential-e. “With Gartner predicting 30 per cent of enterprises will have deployed SD-WAN in their branches by the end of 2019 – up from less than one per cent in 2015 – gone are the days of traditional WAN-as-a-bottleneck mentality. Organisations are clearly ready to adopt agile, secure, flexible and scalable WAN solutions that are available at the drop a hat.”

The new service will offer:

  • Simple automation and administration: Centrally managed policies and infrastructure to increase control and ease of network administration.
  • Speed of deployment: Cloudnet activation of an organisation’s private WAN connection is as fast as the time it takes to deliver a CPE router to its premises.
  • Optimised branch access to applications: Intelligent Network routing that significantly improves user experience and business productivity.
  • Cost efficient IT operations: The ability to minimise CapEx requirements with technologies such as NFV (Network Functions Virtualisation).

The new Exponential-e SD-WAN Cloudnet service is being unveiled today at ‘The Future is SD-WAN’ event, hosted by Exponential-e at The Ritz, London: http://www.exponential-e.com/events/ritz-event-17th-november-2016.

165  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / SDL Brings Unparalleled Security to Translation Supply Chain on: November 18, 2016, 01:29:33 PM
SDL Secure Translation Solution offers a controlled environment where organizations determine who accesses their data, and how

WAKEFIELD, MA and MAIDENHEAD, UK – November 17, 2016 – SDL (LSE:SDL) today announced it is redefining security standards within the translation industry with the launch of its SDL Secure Translation Solution. As strict requirements continue to evolve in highly regulated industries – including Financial Services and Life Sciences – SDL is providing organizations the ability to be compliant as well as offering full traceability and access control of their content.

SDL Secure Translation Solution provides a cost-effective, easily deployable and scalable option in two ways. Customers can define content as highly sensitive and deliver it to SDL’s secure environment for translation. They have the option to use their linguists of choice and only those who have relevant permissions can access content. In addition, customers using SDL Language Service can be assured that their sensitive documents are sent via the secure environment and only accessed by translators that the customer defines.

Within the environment, companies can control how and by whom their data is accessed from either their on-premise technology solution, or by using our Language Delivery Service. Translation memory, terminology, translation workbench and machine translation are all available within the secure environment. This ensures that nothing can be stored locally, copied and pasted, printed or added to unauthorized translation memories.

The explosion of content has brought great challenges to global organizations, most notably around data privacy and protection. However, these challenges do not outweigh the need for high quality, localized translations to reach customers. SDL fulfills the demand for cost efficient, scalable and easy-to-implement solutions by building upon its history of offering a secure, translation supply chain for the most sensitive of content. The latest innovation allows customers to deliver highly sensitive information to SDL’s secure environment virtually, with the added safeguard of industry-leading standards. Documents containing highly sensitive information sent using SDL’s Language Delivery Service will be forwarded via the secure environment, only to be accessible to translators that have appropriate access rights.

“Security continues to be crucial for business,” said Adolfo Hernandez, CEO, SDL. “We are now taking it to the next level, providing an unprecedented level of security and control for those industries who require the highest level of protection.”

SDL’s Secure Translation Solution will be available in early 2017. To find out more about the technology, read our blog.

Ransomware Delivered by 97% of Phishing Emails by end of Q3 2016 Supporting Booming Cybercrime Industry

PhishMe Q3 Malware Review finds encryption ransomware has hit record levels, while ‘quiet malware’ remains a significant threat

LEESBURG, VA – November 17, 2016: PhishMe Inc., the leading provider of human phishing defense solutions, released findings today that show the amount of phishing emails containing a form of ransomware grew to 97.25 percent during the third quarter of 2016 from 92% in Q1. Remaining at the forefront is the Locky encryption ransomware, which has introduced a number of techniques to resist detection during the infection process.

Published today, PhishMe’s Q3 2016 Malware Review identified three major trends previously recorded throughout 2016, but have come to full fruition in the last few months:

• Locky continues to dominate: While numerous encryption ransomware varieties have been identified in 2016, Locky has demonstrated adaptability and longevity
• Ransomware encryption: The proportion of phishing emails analyzed that delivered some form of ransomware has grown to 97.25 percent, leaving only 2.75 percent of phishing emails to deliver all other forms of malware utilities
• Increase in deployment of ‘quiet malware’: PhishMe identified an increase in the deployment of remote access Trojan malware like jRAT, suggesting that these threat actors intend to remain within their victims’ networks for a long time

During the third quarter of 2016, PhishMe Intelligence conducted 689 malware analyses, showing a significant increase over the 559 analyses conducted during Q2 2016. Research reveals that the increase is due, in large part, to the consistent deployment of the Locky encryption ransomware. Locky executables were the most commonly-identified file type during the third quarter, with threat actors constantly evolving the ransomware to focus on keeping this malware’s delivery process as effective as possible.

“Locky will be remembered alongside 2013’s CryptoLocker as a top-tier ransomware tool that fundamentally altered the way security professionals view the threat landscape,” explained Aaron Higbee, CTO and Co-founder, PhishMe. “Not only does Locky distribution dwarf all other malware from 2016, it towers above all other ransomware varieties. Our research has shown that the quarter-over-quarter number of analyses has been on a steady increase, since the malware’s introduction at the beginning of 2016, and thanks to its adaptability, is showing no signs of slowing down.”

While ransomware dominates the headlines, the Q3 PhishMe Malware Review reveals that other forms of malicious software delivered using remote access Trojans, keyloggers and botnets still represent a significant hazard in 2016. Unlike ransomware, so-called ‘quiet malware’ is designed to avoid detection while maintaining a presence within the affected organization for extended periods of time. While only 2.75 percent of phishing emails delivered non-ransomware malware, the diversity of unique malware samples delivered by these emails far exceeded that of the more numerous ransomware delivery campaigns.

Rohyt Belani, CEO and Co-founder of PhishMe added, “The rapid awareness and attention on ransomware has forced threat actors to pivot and iterate their tactics on both payload and delivery tactics. This sustained tenacity shows that awareness of phishing and threats is not enough. Our research shows that without a phishing defense strategy, organizations are susceptible to not just the voluminous phishing emails used to deliver ransomware, but also the smaller and less-visible sets of emails used to deliver the same malware that has been deployed for years. 168  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Perforce Announces Acquisition of ALM Provider Seapine Software on: November 17, 2016, 08:39:46 PM
Acquisition Expands Portfolio of Developer and Designer Productivity and Collaboration Tools

Minneapolis, MN, November 17, 2016—Perforce Software, a leader in version control and source code management, today announced its acquisition of Seapine Software, a leading provider of application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions, based in Mason, Ohio.

This acquisition expands the Perforce portfolio of developer and designer tools beyond enterprise class version management and code review, and provides customers with additional capabilities across the development pipeline. Seapine’s ALM solution accelerates development and delivery cycles through more efficient management of the product development process.

“The Seapine suite of products strongly complements the Perforce portfolio and both companies address many of the same enterprise product development needs including traceability, auditability, and predictability of the development process for high value assets,” says Janet Dryer, Perforce CEO. “The depth and experience the Seapine team has in ALM and building efficiency and quality into the development pipeline is a welcome addition to the Perforce team.”

Seapine’s ALM solutions help companies manage the process of developing high-quality complex products—often in regulated industries, such as life sciences, automotive and financial services. Seapine’s solution consists of scalable team-based tools for superior requirements management, issue tracking, software configuration management, automated software testing, load testing, and test case management. When used together, these tools provide end-to-end traceability of artifacts, resulting in increased product quality and development predictability.

“We found the technology, teams, and application development expertise at these two companies to be a great fit,” says Rick Riccetti, CEO, Seapine Software. “Our leadership team is excited about the opportunity to expand the capabilities and the reach of the Seapine portfolio with the resources and support of an organization like Perforce.”
