Cambridge, UK, 12th February 2015 - CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems), creator of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces the strengthening of its senior management team with the appointment of Martin Stephenson as Chief Financial Officer, and Paul Williams as VP Operations.

Martin Stephenson joins CCS as CFO and brings over 20 years’ experience in corporate financial management, revenue growth strategies, M&A and fund-raising.

Prior to CCS, he was CFO at Cambridge Semiconductor, where he helped restructure the business and oversee its eventual sale. He was previously CFO at technology companies Polatis and Liquavista, where he directed fund raising and established new operations in Asia. Earlier, he worked in the automotive sector for Pi Group – supporting revenue growth from £8-£25 million and sale of the business to Ford – and Cosworth, where he oversaw the turnaround from loss-making to successful sale. Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

New VP Operations Paul Williams is tasked with focusing on manufacturing and RMA as part of general operational responsibilities.

He brings over 20 years’ international experience in the telecoms manufacturing sector, with extensive connections amongst ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers) and the supply chain throughout Europe and Asia. His executive management experience includes a CTO role where he developed a high-end mobile phone, and the position of COO at UN Cells, a luxury mobile phone company partnered with a prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer. Prior to this, he was the Manufacturing Director for Vertu, the luxury mobile phone company set up by Nokia. Earlier, he held a number of senior production, operations and quality management roles at Nokia Mobile Phones.

Commenting on the two executive appointments, CEO and Co-Founder Steve Greaves said: “The small cells market is set for rapid growth and CCS is uniquely placed to deliver key enabling infrastructure at the heart of the mobile data opportunity. The wealth of industry experience and talent that Martin and Paul bring to CCS at this time will undoubtedly prove invaluable as we gear up for our next phase of growth. We are proud to welcome them both to our leadership team.”

About CCS:
Cambridge, UK-based CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems) is the pioneer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks.

CCS offers mobile network operators the only system that meets all key requirements for high capacity and low latency, reliability, rapid deployment and low-cost operation in a small, low-impact design. Self-organising, self-healing links automatically reconfigure themselves to optimise performance across a resilient, multipoint-to-multipoint topology. Easy to scale, with no radio planning or re-alignment required as nodes are added, CCS’ self-organising microwave-based system delivers the lowest TCO for any small cell backhaul technology.

CCS’ system enables mobile operators to deploy small cells in a flexible, organic way as additional capacity is required, maintaining a quality of service that meets customer expectations.
