UK’s best web companies to be showcased in Silicon Valley networking event
London, 17 March, 2008 – Silobreaker (
www.silobreaker.com), the innovative search service for news and current affairs, has been selected to participate in the inaugural Web Mission event sponsored by UK Trade & Investment, TechCrunch, Heller Ehrmann , HSBC, and BT. The announcement was made last week by the organisers, UK entrepreneur Oli Barrett and consultant Polecat.
“This is a great honour and further recognition of Silobreaker’s innovative technology and approach to news search” commented Silobreaker CEO, Kristofer Mansson. “With almost half of our users coming from the US, Web Mission is a great chance for us not only to meet and exchange ideas with key players in Silicon Valley but to strengthen the ties with our largest user base and continue scaling our business in North America.”
Web Mission 2008 will see 20 UK Web 2.0 companies travel to San Francisco to explore new opportunities for growth with key people and companies in Silicon Valley. The event will showcase UK web talent, seek meaningful assistance for companies ready for expansion, and provide a platform for those involved to gain valuable media and business exposure. Companies were selected based on their ability to do meaningful business in the US; from setting up office, to finding funding, to extending their network, and developing sustainable cross-pond relationships. The companies were also assessed based on their business viability and the strength of the management team. The event will take place between 19-25 April. For more information, visit
