AIRCOM International and Teradata Form Strategic Partnership
« Posted: February 12, 2008, 02:33:01 PM »

Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Hall 1 Stand B14 - 12 February 2008 – AIRCOM International and Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC) today announced a strategic partnership between the two companies to deliver comprehensive network monitoring, integrated with an enterprise data warehouse solution from Teradata for global telecommunications operators.

2.5G and 3G telecommunication networks generate complex and extremely large volumes of data. The next generation of telecomunication networks (4G) will significantly increase data management complexity.  As a result, telecom operators will require an even greater level of scalablability and reliability in their enterprise data warehouse platform to  assure high quality and seamless service to their customers.  The need for business intelligence will continue to grow, and enabling AIRCOM’s ENTERPRISE suite to run with Teradata technology will singificantly benefit customers who wish to make best use of the vast quantities of data available to them.

AIRCOM’s Operational Support System (OSS) tools, such as OPTIMA, provide operators with a near-real-time market snapshot, enabling them to immediately identify and remedy any issues taking place within the network and the ability to consider a number of ‘what if’ network optimisation and marketing scenarios. Data stored in the Teradata warehouse will be used by OPTIMA so telecom operators can, for example, identify customers for whom QoS (quality of service) is key and take steps to immediately prioritize issues affecting them.

“The AIRCOM and Teradata partnership will provide telecom operators a deeper understanding of their customers and their enterprise,” said David Grant, vice president of Global Industry Solutions, Teradata Corporation.  “Linking customer data and network performance data not only provides a holistic view of the customer experience but also adds significant value to other areas of the business such as revenue assurance, financial management and product assurance.”

Telecom operators who are converging fixed and mobile networks are subject to ever-increasing data volumes, Grant pointed out.  “Using the Teradata solution to store and effectively manage massive amounts of data gives operators a head start in micro-segmenting their customer base, and to reach those customers with services best suited to their needs.”

"Operators are under increasing pressure to fully understand a true picture of what is happening throughout their network," said Margaret Rice Jones, chief executive officer of AIRCOM International. "Our partnership with Teradata enables operators to access a wide variety of customer-centric data, to apply dynamic business intelligence throughout their network. They can then make fully informed business decisions, be it on a customer, service or a network level."

The partnership is based on Teradata's award-winning enterprise data warehousing technology (EDW) and AIRCOM’s OSS tool, OPTIMA.

AIRCOM International and Teradata will be securing the deal with a contract signing at the AIRCOM International booth, 1B14, Mobile World Congress, at 5pm on Wednesday 13 February.
